RE: 2007 VFR and Honda's sport touring options
I have to agree. As you guys may recall, I am (as a result of carpal
tunnel symptoms) seriously looking at a new and different bike to replace my VFR for touring duties. The ST1300 is not what I am interested in, so...whither Honda's (other) sport touring options? I really don't want to have to drop 15 or 20 grand on a (new or lightly used) R1200RT sled, but that seems to be the best option out there right now. Paul G. I like my VTEC, but I was still wanting to see something besides cool paint. Honda is letting their sport-touring market get eaten alive by the competition. No new XX, or VFR. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Re: RE: 2007 VFR and Honda's sport touring options
I have Helibars on my '02 and that relieved a lot the the stress on my
wrists, but not all of it. If your looking in the ST class there are actually quite few options. As mentioned, Honda has the ST1300. I fell in love with this bike the first time I sat on one. it just fit me great. I *MITE* raise the bars. that wouldn't be the first mod at all though Yamaha has the FJR1300, I didn't like the way it fit me when I sat on it at the IMS show last year, I've not ridden it so I would certainly not rule it out w/o first doing research. BMW has the R1200RT and the R1200ST. The ST was more upright then the RT. The RT felt much like the ST1300 in terms of seating. But IMO the ST1300 looks better. The R12ST is a slick machine, but I don't think its going to be a big comfort upgrade from the VFR. Moto Guzzi is bringing the Norge to our shores this up-coming year. CW loved this bike when they got to ride it a few issues back. Good looking bike. I'm looking forward to seeing this in person at the IMS show this year. Theres a few others out there that fall in line with the VFR, Triumph Sprint ST, Duc ST3, but their seating is nearly the same so I don't expect much relief of the wrist pain. Might check into the Big DS catagory. R1200GS/A, Vstrom 650/1000, Triumph Tiger. all are great street machine with gravel road capability with much more upright ergos. Good luck and enjoy the new bike hunt! Nathan On 9/7/06, Nagy, Paul > I have to agree.
