Helibar Install Question
I'm installing helibars on my '00 and have just about finished. I noticed
that the bars have no mechanism inside the tubes that allow you to attached the bar weights. I bought these used from someone who supposedly never installed them. Is this piece normally included or does it have to be purchased separately??? __________________________ Mick McHam Houston, TX '01 ST1100 ABS, STOC# 1134 '00 VFR800FI http://www.hal-pc.org/~mmcham _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |

Re: Helibar Install Question
You need to remove the insert (the actual weight) from the stock bars, and
install these in the Heli Bars. There are a couple of retainer clips catching the holes in the ends of the bars. Use a small screwdriver or punch to press the clips in, while pulling the weight out. A little bit of dish soap on the rubbers make the installation a little easier. Subject: Helibar Install Question > I'm installing helibars on my '00 and have just about finished. Sounds like it would be easy to screw up the clips as you come out with it. What's the best procedure to do this? The way I have it envisioned is to screw a bolt part way in the insert (so I can have something to pull with), soap it up as you suggested, then pry on the clips while pulling. Might be handy to have 3 hands! Is there any trick to this or a way to keep from screwing up the clips? __________________________ Mick McHam Houston, TX '01 ST1100 ABS, STOC# 1134 '00 VFR800FI http://www.hal-pc.org/~mmcham _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |
