Georgia ramblings (kind of long but some VFRC)
Out from lurk mode for a post.
I just have to post a bit about this years trip to the East. Peggy (my wife) and I are up in the Georgia mountains having a super time. Peggy had a quadruple bypass, and a mitral valve replacement in February. A couple of months ago she decided she wanted to ride again. She rode many years ago and decided she wanted a scooter instead of a bike. She bought a Honda Reflex but now says she needs more power, so it looks like a SilverWing for next year. She still does pretty good on the Reflex, she passed two Harley's and a Goldwing on Wolf Pen Gap Road a couple of days ago. :-) Anyway it has been pretty cool riding the VFR ('99) solo on all these great roads, and Peggy doesn't mind at all that she gets left behind when it turns nice and twisty. I just wait up the road a ways or where it turns and make sure she heads the right way. I guess some people are on the money when they talk about the VFR being an old guys bike. I love it and am 57 (Peggy's 58). It suits my riding style to a tee, the riding position is perfect and never feels cramped. It has plenty of power for me (hey, I'm 57 remember) :-). I've had it since '01 and have only put about 20,000 miles on it, but I simply don't ride as much as I used to. I also have a '86 FJ1200 with over 60,000 miles. I can't see getting rid of the VFR as it suits me so wonderfully well, and sounds so sweet up around 10-11,000 rpm. Anyway, this was my post to wax rhapsodic and I'll head back into lurk mode now. RE: Georgia ramblings (kind of long but some VFRC)
Howard,
Great to hear you had a good trip, sounds like you had a lot of fun. I love riding down there and don't get a chance to do it enough (once a year ain't enough). My VFR suits the needs very much like yours and it works for me (being 38 soon to be 39). I'll keep my SV650 for trackdays and classes and who knows maybe a race sometime in the future... Take care, Matt Roth BTW my legs are about to fall off after Star School at ThunderHill, CA... _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |
