Sargent Seat
Mick, I have a 99 and just purchased a Sargent a few weeks back and am very pleased. I have had it about 3 weeks and have logged about 1200 miles on it so far. 300 miles in the twisties and I was just fine. With the stock seat I was standing on the pegs after 150.
The quality of the Sargent is top notch. I got the Carbon Fiber covering and it looks great and feels good too. Not too slippery and yet it is easy to move around on. The one thing I would say is that if you have a huge ass the Sargent could be a problem. The way the rear section is stepped up gives you only so much butt room. I am 6 ft and 200 lbs and am fine with all of my winter riding gear on but if you are 240, then find one and sit on it first. I got mine from SportTour.com. Ask for Howard. He is the owner and gave me one for $339 including shipping. They are great folks to deal with and they had the best price I could find on the Sargent. I have bought tires through them as well. No relationship.... just a satisfied customer. Vic I'm approaching the end of my pain tolerance with the OEM seat on my 2000 VFR. From what I've read, the consensus seems to be that the Sargent is pretty good at reducing butt ache on all day rides. I REALLY hate to spend this kind of money but it looks like I'm going to have to do it. My questions are: 1. Where is the cheapest place to purchase the Sargent seat. 2. Is it a good idea to buy a used Sargent from somebody? I know that some seats form to their owners butt after a while (in effect making it a custom saddle). Don't know if they all do this or if some are more prone to this than others. __________________________ Mick McHam Houston, TX '01 ST1100 ABS, STOC# 1134 '00 VFR800FI http://www.hal-pc.org/~mmcham --------------------------------- How low will we go?
