Re: '96 RR failed - panic & sell? keep & fix?

Hey Mike,
Can you crimp connectors onto electrical wires? Can
you buy little blue 3M 'splice' connectors and do two
wire mods? If so, and assuming you have accurately
diagnosed your problem as being the RR (and not the
stator or something else), then you can most likely
make your '96 VFR a reliable, fun to ride bike again.

First, replace the bad RR. Then...

You need to splice two wires from the RR wiring loom.

First one is spliced from the green wire to a good
ground. You can use the negative (-) terminal of the
battery if you desire.

Second one is spliced from the red wire to the
positive (+) terminal of your battery. This spliced
wire must be FUSED for safety sake. Most auto parts
stores sell fused wires you can use for this purpose.

Does this sound beyond your mechanical skills? If so,
do you live nearby a lister that you trust to help you
do this? Where do you live?
Pat in Monument, CO (had '97 VFR w/RR problems!)
