Aftermarket R/R.
I'm still looking to buy a R/R as a back up unit in case I have problems with the one in my VFR that I'm gonna ride in NZ.
I found the aftermarket replacement for the Regulator/Rectifier - it's made by ElectroSport. Here's the link-a: http://www.electrosport.com/shopping...d_esr580.html# Motorcycle Accessory Warehouse used to sell them, but they said "we've had too many of these come back to us, so we don't sell them any more." So is it worth it to save 60 bucks to get the aftermarket unit? Anyone have experience with their model ESR580? - Thanx - Jon _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |

Opinions seem mixed, and there were definitely QC issues for a while that the Electrosport people acknowledged. The archives might have thoughts about that particular model. IIRC, someone bought a heavy duty R/R directly from Shindingen (who makes the Honda unit) and saved some bucks. P/N in the archives. If you don't mind dealing with the connector (i.e. breaking your single block connector out into individual spade connects) you can use pretty much any R/R, so long as the donor motorcycle had a charging system with similar capacity (so most modern litre bikes should do fine). They come up on eBay used fairly regularly. later, Johnj _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |
