1986 VF1000R for sale

Good afternoon VFRers:
I'm hoping this rings a bell with a VF1000R fan out there. I have a very
nice '86 model for sale. It's the second one I've owned (first an '85
for five years, this one an '86 for eight years).
I don't want to have to explain a 1000R to somebody who has never seen
one and I really don't want to sell it to some kid who will probably
throw it away.
I replaced my 1000R with a new Moto Guzzi Breva 1100, partly because I
can at last have hard bags and travel with more than just two T-shirts,
two pair pants, sox etc. But I don't want the 1000R to just sit at the
back of the garage and not be ridden, I think too muchy of it for that.
It has 28,000 miles, tires and chain were replaced and front forks
rebuilt last year. I've put 18,000 miles on it, all summer highway trips
in Oregon, Idaho, Nevada and Utah. I've never used it to commute.
The bike has always been garaged, never been down, never broken and has
no damage. I am the third owner. It comes with a spare lower fairing and
solo rear seat cap (both new) extra wheels and stock exhaust (it has
been jetted and has F1 pipes), complete tool kit and shop manual.
By the way, I am 58 and the motorcycle columnist for Sports Car Market
Magazine in Portland, Oregon.
I'm asking $3,995 for the bike, but I'm open to sensible offers. I have
lots of photos but I read your note and don't want to clutter the site.
Interested parties can e-mail me.
cheers
Paul Duchene
