Popping out of gear....shifter part needed
Can any one help here please.
----- Original Message ----- From: rightspeedservice To: vfrlist@xxxxxx Sent: Thursday, April 05, 2007 3:04 PM Subject: [VFRlist] Popping out of gear....shifter part needed My bike isnt shifting all the way into each gear with one click (it takes an extra little bump), so after pulling the shifter mechanism I narrowed it down to the part with the 3 gears on it that's welded to the main shifter shaft. The bushing inside each of the 3 gears seems to have worn which is allowing the shifter to hit the stop before it moves the center gear enough to click fully into the next gear. Usually it's ok as long as I shift solidly, but if I shift fast and dont pop it all the way up it will pop back out of gear. So now that I've explained what and why... I need to know where to buy that part. Honda was nice enough to discontinue it. It's still listed on some websites, but when I tried to order it they replied to say it was discontinued. Does anyone have a source for older honda parts or does anyone happen to have a good used one sitting around? There would need to be almost zero play in the bushings those little gears spin on, plus little to zero wear on the shaft where the needle bearing on the cover rides. If anyone has any info or anything it would be much appreciated. Also, does anyone know if the 86-87 bikes can be converted to the 88-89 european VFR750 shifter mechanism? It looks like a conventional type instead of the goofy planetary gear shifter the bike has now, plus honda still sells it. __._,_.___ Reply (via web post) | Start a new topic Messages | Files | Photos | Links | Database | Polls | Members | Calendar Any Mailing list questions can bMessages in this topic (1) e sent to zellto@xxxxxx.
