4G rear brake pads
List:
has anyone with a 3G or 4G VFR ordered brake pads and been shipped the entirely wrong part? I just ordered new pads from service honda (good group of folks, btw), and when I ordered rear pads for my '94 (43105-MY7-405), I got shipped a pair of pads (431A0-MT4-670) which are obviously the wrong part. The guy at Service Honda did some checking and said that the second part number has superseded the first, and that this should be the right set of pads. The only problem is, that it's not. The new pads are square, and don't have a ring, are too short, etc. So: -are my rear pads identical to my fronts, to the extent that I can just order another set of fronts? -if not, will I have to get aftermarket pads for the rear? later, Johnj who is quite confused just now _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |

In the models with the linked brakes, the fronts and rears are the same. IIFC, VTX, Blackbird and VFR share the same pads. Unfortunately, mine doesn't have linked brakes. Upon inspection however, it does appear that the front and rear pads are identical, and I ordered a pair of front pads for the back. This leaves only the question of wtf happened with that part number? The guys at Service Honda claimed that the "new" part number was the one for 90-93 VFRs, but: -AFAIK, they use the same rear brake as the 94-97 -no online fiche that I've visited breaks the VFRs apart as 90-93 and 94-97 (so I can't check the P/N). Maybe the package was simply mislabeled at Honda or something. I hope it's that, because otherwise 90-97 VFR owners who want stock rear pads are going to have some trouble. later, Johnj _______________________________________________ vfr mailing list vfr@xxxxxx For subscription and delivery options: https://lists.cs.wisc.edu/mailman/listinfo/vfr |
