2009 VFRworld Calendar
Well, the summer is unfortunately coming to an end, and the holidays will be upon us before we know it. Therefore, it’s about time we start preparing for the 2009 VFRworld Calendar! Since its inception, the annual VFRworld calendar has been a huge sensation. Hundreds of outstanding photos have been submitted, and over the past couple of years, the calendar has evolved into a high quality masterpiece that we’ve been proud to offer to VFR fanatics from all over the world.
This year, VFRworld is more popular than ever. We recently exceeded 10,000 registered users on the board, and our user base has become more international than ever. I am confident that our 2009 calendar will be the best one yet!
As in previous years, the photos for the calendar will be selected from submissions from our members. Now is your chance to see your beautiful motorcycle, in all its shiny glory, representing a month in 2009.
The rules for photo submissions are simple. For the past two years, VFRworld has selected the final photos for the calendar based on the community voting for their favorites. Unfortunately, this process had a few unfortunate side effects, and occasionally the process became more of a popularity contest as opposed to focusing primarily on creating the most professional calendar possible. Therefore, this year the VFRworld moderators are going to team up to decide which photos will be included in the 2009 calendar. This will ensure that we are selecting photos that will make the calendar a well-rounded work of art, including a variety of years and models, settings, and users. Please note that typically, over a hundred photos are submitted, and there are only 13 finalists. If we could add more months to the year, we would gladly do so.
- It must be VFR-related.
- You must have a high resolution version of the photo available (over 2000 pixel width would be ideal, which equates to 11"x9").
- All years and models are welcome - in fact, the more variety, the better.
- Photos which were selected for last year's calendar are not eligible in 2008. However, if you submitted a photo last year that did not get chosen, you are welcome to submit it again this year.
- You are welcome to submit as many photos as you wish, but only one photo per user can be selected for the final calendar.
- Classy, artsy, colorful photos are highly encouraged! In the past, the photos that have been selected have been primarily action shots or shots of VFRs in interesting situations (as opposed to a snapshot of your bike sitting in your driveway).
- Photo submissions will be open until Wednesday, October 15. No photos will be accepted after that date.
If your photo is selected for the calendar, you will be asked to provide some information for the caption, and you will be asked to upload your high resolution version of the photo. Please ensure that the email address in your profile is up to date. If we can't contact you, your photo cannot be included in the calendar.
REMINDER: If you don’t have a high resolution version, please don’t submit your photo. It needs to be at least 2,000 pixels wide. Smaller photos cannot be enlarged for the calendar.
We have created a new category in the Photo Gallery for calendar submissions. Go to the Photo Gallery and click on 2009 VFRworld Calendar to submit your entries, or to view other submissions. You’ll be able to “rate” the photos that have been submitted, which will help the moderators decide on the best photos.
We look forward to all the fabulous photos that are sure to be entered in this year's contest, and most important of all - have fun with it!
NOTE: Please don't post your photos on this thread, go post them in the Photo Gallery!

Come on folks! Go rate the uploaded pics!

Okay folks. Don't forget to vote and for goodness sake when you go looking thru the photos start at the last page and work forward. Seems when I look at how many view only the newer ones are getting looked at more, which tells me folks are not looking at the ones post in the beginning. So start on the highest page number and work your way through. Thank you.![]()

I think the lame voting is becorse what you menthion to, the moderators will select what will go to the calendra.
But hey folks, you have the opertunity to sat which you would like to be in the calendra! thats the reason I think all should go and rate the pics, at least the ones you think are worth to worth a vote !
How this should be handeled is a nother discussion I´m not geting in to...
Hey, I've got a few photos to submit, might be a dumb Q, but how do I indicate that I want my photos considered for the Calendar?
EDIT: Never mind, it was a dumb question :)
There are so many good pictures. Looks like it will be a good calendar.
Reminder, only one day left! Tomorrow is your last day to submit photos for consideration in the 2009 VFRworld Calendar, so get them in now!
So when will we know what pics made it to the 2009 calendra?
Curius.....
Yeah.........what he said.......... WHEN AND WHERE CAN WE VIEW THE SUBMISSIONS ?

submissions are moved to private viewing gallery to be discussed. viewing time was the past couple months. I'm not sure if m is planning on moving them back when the final pics are chosen... we haven't talked about it yet... it should be soon, though. I picked several that I liked and I think everyone else has pretty much narrowed it down...
