    Hey Guys,

I'm currently selling my (DISASSEMBLED) 86 VFR on Ebay if anyone's interested for parts.

Unfortunately, it's only for local pickup from the Gold Coast, Qld, Australia, but if you wanted to try and make arrangements with someone, then I'd at least consider it. It was a brilliant bike and I'd love to see it continue in some way, whether to keep other bikes going or be restored in its own right. I just don't have the time/resources to do it myself :(

eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

    Cheers,
    Axyl.

For those individuals looking for bodywork and not happy with the current options Beasley Composites makes Lowers but their upper is a race unit. contact them and let them know you want these items. With enough interest a street upper is do able. Suggest a rear cowl option while you're at it.

Just thought I'd bump this thread, mainly cause I'm a bit pissed.

I paid Mr Crites (VFRChuck) $86 for a seat cowl via EBay, which he gladly accepted back in April '12. Now I know he's backed up and hard to get and all that crap, but I have emailed him, PM'd him both here and on EBay and tried to contact him at his Cobalt Racing with no luck.

Like Dukie, it's been 10 months now and I've not only not received the cowl, but haven't even gotten a reply back saying sorry for the delay, I'll get it to you when I can.T

To make it worse, I found 6 other victims on EBay that have purchased various parts from him and never received items... and due to the nature of his selling technique in which he states that it could take 6-8 months before he can make the item for you, it's way past the PayPal protection period of 45 days. Very convenient for him.

Meanwhile my VFR is sitting with a broken tab on the seat cowl and unless I have my saddle bags on it, I have to shelve the plastic and have an open invite for riders. LOL

But seriously, DON'T ORDER FROM VFR CHUCK!!!!!

I'll gladly retract all of this with a simple I'm sorry, and the receipt of the seat cowl I ordered.

He's one of the worst vendors I've had to deal with. I was happy with the fairings I did get, but it took almost a year to get them. I couldn't get a hold of him via email, nor phone number. I ended up finding out that his Father Charles Crites Sr lives in the same town and owns and operates a car restoration business. I ended up calling him (be nice) and asking for his cell phone/alternate contact. When I called chuck, he gave me this long shpeel about going through a divorce and all this other crap... I didn't care, I wanted my tail. About a month later I got my parts.

Not sure how, but ebay needs to be warned. I'd say if the product isn't in your hands in 30 days, then try to get a refund. He counts on that loophole of the policy, but IIRC It's against their terms of service to offer for sale a product that isn't available yet for sale. Just report him and get him banned. Leave negative feedback and move on.

I can tell ya right now that finding a rear cowl is like a needle in a haystack, and youll be REAL lucky if you find one in good condition, much less find one at all. The only solution I found to that was to go to Chuck Crites and get a solo seat tail section that he makes, but that was years ago. Now, I honestly wouldn't do business with him unless I was local to him (giving me the ability to pester him in person, so he couldn't ignore me like he has SO many other paying customers in recent years). I'll give Crites credit for doing amazingly good work, but he has a pretty crappy reputation to rebuild with VFR owners, and I'd be surprised to see him ramp production back up to the point that he had enough happy customers to justify giving him any more money (ever).

Yea, Chuck Crites is the owner of his own little 1 man operation he calls Cobalt Racing. He is really the only game in town (and by in town, I mean at least in the whole US) that makes brand new high quality fiberglass (and carbon fiber) 2nd gen VFR body parts. Most of my bike is wrapped in Cobalt parts, aside from the front fender, gas tank, and lowers. I can't speak for air tech though, but I'd imagine they'd be as good as any other plastic out there.

I have the Air Tech link saved....here's the page for our bikes.

Surely someone on this forum would have a rear seat cowl(even a damaged one) that they could get a mold made from and start reproducing them, as there seems to be enough demand for these not to run at a loss?
    I would definitely buy one.

I would be interested in a rear cowl if you still have one available?

My thought is fiberglass is stronger but the plastic would be closer to oem
