Only 20k mi. on the '09 and right front fork started leaking.
Used the "seal mate" tool and it worked its magic!
It wasn't bad dirty but must have been enough crude to cause
a leak. Went ahead and cleaned the left fork too. I'm now a bit
more alert to keeping the forks clean & dry.
This is not a paid advertisment but I'd gladly pay them more for the tool.
Got 2 for $9.00 on their ebay site.

I recommend the "Seal Doctor". It's a lot easier to use as it's plastic and clips onto the fork leg.

Oh yeah, Seal Mate saved me from a tear-down and rebuild for next to nothing. I think it's the go-to for first round inspection and repair. So simple.

there's two. one for 35-45mm forks. The larger one is for 45-55mm forks.

I will say the price at 20 bucks is kind of nuts for a chunk of small plastic, but it is a lot easier to use than the seal mate. just clip it on, push into the seal. You then get those raised plastic areas to grip and turn.

There are enough testimonials to easily justify buying the seal mate. That said, I just cannot bring myself to spend money on a die cut bit of 1.5mil poly sheet. It is made from the same material I use to cut out airbrushing templates... if you're picking up what I am putting down.

I'll be trying this tomorrow. The dust guard seems very difficult to pry with a screwdriver. Any tips to not rip it?

The deal mate I tried failed horribly. There this plastic folded at the first attempt. It actually wouldn't have done any good anyway, as my leak was caused by a small rock chip in the fork tube. I disassembled, sanded it smooth then polished it up. New fork seals and I'm good!

Success! Well, hopefully. Fluid stopped coming up when I pumped it. Will know for sure tomorrow.
