Bought a beat up VFR 750 off a friend for a pretty cheap price before he went off to college and now im in need of new fairings. I've been searching all around and have found a few sites but some seem risky to order from. I know this question is asked around here a decent amount from what I've researched, so I apologize, but I was just looking for all new fairings for the bike from a reputable website (not CL or eBay). Was also wondering how much do you think the overall cost would be? Will try and post pics of the motorcycle when I get home from work. Thanks!

Edit: Will continue to search on CL and eBay, but money isn't the biggest issue and I was curious if people have had really good success with certain sites while they were finding fairings.

All new fairings for your 92 that are OEM may be really hard to find if you leave out CR and Ebay. Being more specific about what is actually needed parts wise might be more to the point.

Can what you have be fixed?

Wreckers are not all that reliable. They will tell you that something is pristine and somehow never seem to be able to come up with a pic and if you buy something from them that turns out to be a POS. Their attitude is basically tough shit.

It is a bad way to try building a bike, easy to spend more on those bits that you bought the bike for, unless it was given to you. Motorcycle manufacturers years ago worked out the best way to stop people repairing them was to wrap them in plastic, then make the replacement plastic unaffordable

The "plastic" on my 91 saved the bike on more than one occasion, bike was rideable home too, as one place you wouldnt have wana been stuck ther in the dark without being
"strapped." Fairigs for these bikes can be had, you just have to be patient. Depends too on how badly the bike was finger-fucked by the previous owner, sometimes the small little things can hold up a project more than the actual larger pieces. Good Luck :worthless:

An old Chinese guy once said, A picture is worth a thousand words unless you're looking for a fairing on a 25 year old bike."

Hi Amthrax - welcome to the Madhouse:welcome:!

Congratulations on your purchase. When you get a chance please drop by the Introductions part of the forum and say Hi to the rest of the folks on here. You may want to update your forum profile (Forum Actions/Edit Profile) to include the specs of your bike and an approximate location - city/state is fine - that way they information will appear automatically beside your posts and if you need help you may find someone living nearby is willing to swing by and offer advice.

    :focus:

To be honest, you will probably find it very difficult to track down a complete set of genuine fairings for a bike which is 24 years old. As others have said you may be better off trying to repair your current fairings - but without seeing some pictures of how damaged the current fairings are - its complete guesswork as what the best option is.

Usually I would advise against considering the sort of Chinese fairing kits shown on eBay etc especially if your current fairings can be repaired and then repainted.

Obviously if your current fairings are not original Honda stuff or are totally busted up, then aftermarket kits may be the only sensible (affordable) choice. Be aware that a lot of aftermarket stuff is made using very thin cheap plastic, so panels may need a fair bit of modification to get them to fit. Another factor to take into account is that if the bike has taken a tumble, then some of the fairing mounts may have been bent out of position, so if you do decide on an aftermarket kit, take your time and before you start enlarging any mounting holes make sure you compare them with the original panels - as the new panel may be right but the mounting tabs need adjustment.

On the few aftermarket kits I have seen, those supplied with plastic fuel tank covers are pretty dire quality. If the paint on your current fuel tank is in good shape then choosing a fairing kit which will match may be a good choice.

Good luck and let's see some photos of this VFR!

any prospective gen3 VFR owner ought to check here for clues about which model's body parts are the hardest to find. b4 buying, learn that gen3 fairings seem in high demand and very seldom up for sale if they're undamaged :deadhorse: and sometimes you just need to buy damaged parts and do some repairs.

these are not good naked bikes. too much stuff hanging out, dangling bits, skeletal frame, hoses and wires everywhere, it needs to wear fairings :stripper:to look like anything but a wreck.
