You dropped it how many time!

    I drop two time.

    This time was a direct result of being vertically challenged AND not assessing the fact there was a hole in pavement. Backing up moto while sitting in saddle, put left foot down, no touchie, so down down down...

    Scratches in same place when I dropped moto Canada, along with another banana lever. Great thing I keep extra levers around.

    I made up to moto by seeing a blazing sunset and having some photos together.[​IMG][​IMG][​IMG]

    Heavy aren't they, glad your leg didn't get caught. Always wary of where my feet land, doesn't take much. Moto will forgive you.

    So so heavy! Thank you, doesn't take much at all.

    Just the slightest change in ground and I have to be careful. It was my fault. I didn't assess properly.

    But with all my riding, many times with loads of gear, and only two time drop, Imma not beat muhself up.

    This is why I do "strange" things that make people go HMMM...like parking away from others in group rides because I feel it's not safe for me to park where they do, or refusing a U-turn until I come to a safer place to turn around, etc. Slow and steady wins the race. But also helps when there is ground to touch.... haha

    I didn't mention muh leg, but it did get caught. Since there was a hole, the fall was awkward...not on even ground. Banged up, nothing too serious. Definitely feel it more today. Thankful for gear. No road rash!

    Leave the cow alone-go fishing. Cats do much better with fresh fish! and so do people. I am a constant dropper till my gas tank goes to half and I wear a light weight jacket! Center of gravity says top heavy bikes fall down when going slow.

    With some people, it is throwing a leg over the tank that causes the bike to drop.

    Sorry to hear about your drop Jen. At least the damage was minimal. Still stings anyway. If it makes you feel better I'll send you a pic of the dent on my 700. ;)

    Dropped my first motorcycle, 1986 Yamaha Maxim XJ700. Didn't compensate, as a newbie, incline stop sign dipping to right. I put my foot down and bike just kept going to right and down it goes.
    Second drop, Kawasaki Concours1400, I was moving it around on it's center stand with a center stand mover. Hit a little pebble, center stand mover stops, bikes keeps moving forward off center stand and front light area hits side of house.

    Put me down for two.
    #1. 20 degrees out, dead of winter, near frozen at the end of a 30 mile commute. Turning into the job site, sand was built up in the turning lane, was nearly stopped and gave that final bit of front brake. Bam front tire washed out. The usual damage: turn signal stems, clutch lever, bent clip-on, torn grip, scratches.
    #2. Looped a wheelie at 45mph, uphill. Torn grip, signal stems, scrapes & scratches, destroyed side cover, lost all oil. Had to go back to the farm and get a pickup truck to bring it back home.

    I wanna contribute (cause misery loves company and all that) but I need to know what constitutes a "drop"? I apologize that I haven't read through every page yet but some of the stories sounds more like what I would call a "crash" (bike was moving when it went down) rather than a "drop" (bike wasn't moving when it went down - includes drops as a result of forgotten locking devices). FWIW, I have had both drops and crashes (only two types of riders, right? haha).

    I may not have had as many as some of you but I think I might have the record for fastest? 2 "drops", one on each side, within the first 5 minutes of riding my very first bike (86 VFR) - happened within the first 15 feet or so of travel, technically, I hadn't even completely made it out of my driveway yet - and add a moving violation (failure to completely stop at a stop sign) about 7-8 minutes after that...

    Time to make notes of the event. But they have to be made at the time and accurately reflect the events as they happen at the time, and will refresh your memory to what took place. I think you get the drift of those comments.
