That's great news, I liked the added part to it
"It should be noted that SB 5378 would also make it illegal for another motorist to prevent a motorcycle from performing a legal lane-splitting maneuver – an interesting nod towards the passive-aggressive nature of Pacific Northwest drivers.

We'll see, I'm not holding my breath considering all the a$$hats that play in the chicken coup. Can't count how many times I was hopeful here. Yes, good to read that passive aggressive can get you in trouble. bout time someone took notice of the fall out that surely will come of this passing. Nice.

By accessing the links, SB 5378 can be seen in current status and form (s).

The bill has passed in the Senate and not the House. Second guessing what can happen if the legislation is passed is like expecting Kellyanne Conway to roll over on great leader. God forbid if he rolled over on her skinny ass.

Yep. Not shocked it failed. Same fate as Texas bill(s) several times.

While lane-splitting might be a good idea for Washington (and other states) the truth is the bill(s) legalizing it have to compete for time and attention with potentially hundred/thousands of other bills on the state house floor before getting final approval. Many of these other bills may be viewed as having priority over a lane-splitting bill.

I agree. There are more pressing matters on the agenda taking precedence over improving traffic flow. Just a couple so everyone knows what's going on. The exact date we nuke North Korea to show that guy over there that Trump is the big boss man. How to wiggle out of pissing off all the black folks and still not speaking to the NAACP convention. The luncheon menu at Mar A Lago. Getting Don Juniors Xanax scrip refilled in secret.

The state still hasn't passed a budget.

Traffic is completely fucked in the Seattle area costing Lord knows what to businesses, and time stolen from our lives.

And what do they do? Add a toll lane. I'd like to throttle the asshole who decided that bikes should have to pay the toll too.

We were the exception in the carpool lane. Sure we take up a space but we use less gas, pollute less and virtually cause no damage to the road surface. They should have given us a break.

And if the day comes when lane splitting is legal, we will be creating a space for some poor cager.

I think ABATE has or had a lobbyist in Washington Gubbamint mostly to get the helment law dropped and insure the lawyers who get their contingency pesos when some harleydood comes out of a crash at aboot 20% efficient.

Years ago the honcho senator HMFIC of things motorcycles was a harleydood. He didn't do shit..

It might be fun in court if ya got a citation for lane splitting to tell the judge the reason you were between lanes of cars is because some cager was going to waste you if you didn't get between lanes. The cops would have to prove otherwise.

One way to get attention in the legislature is not by addressing the entire committee structure but hammering (gently) on the low man on the Totem Pole and taking names and kicking ass of those who voted against the legislation.

Not sure how valid the less pollution and better MPG claim is for bikes these days. I mean hell, a Prius gets better MPG than my bike, seats 5 with groceries, and pollutes less. Even modern non-hybrid cars pollute less than our de-catted bikes....which is what most peeps be having.

I hope you get that bill passed sometime, I just think they will shoot those claims full of holes is all.

I hate it when people say i'm wrong on the internet- butthole ;)

    Check out the chart:
    https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10310

Okay, but remember mythbusters are not scientists and all three bikes were probably Harleys.
Still its all about the carbon these days, cow farts contribute more to global warming.
And not enough bikes to smog you out.
    http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/greenspace/2011/09/mythbusters-motorcycle-emissions.html

Our company pays thousands (over 10) on vehicle weight fees- because of damage to the road.

And when was the last time you saw studded tires on a bike, hmmm.....

I noticed you be a sensitive one playa. I be gentles. Hugs? I be confused why you are talking about my bunghole though....I be on guard! :Fencing:

    Your mythbusters data.

"Motorcycles (the ones they choose) were indeed more fuel-efficient than cars (cars they chose from 7-8 years ago) and emitted less of the greenhouse gas carbon dioxide, but they emitted far more smog-forming hydrocarbons and oxides of nitrogen, as well as the toxic air pollutant carbon monoxide. "

That report was done in 2011, and many, many, more hybrids and electrics are on three road. Tesla was still best known as a rock band, or maybe that sciencey guy who made Edison look a stubborn fool years later.

I think you are missing the premise of my argument. I was stating "these days." If you compare motorcycles to many modern cars they don't get much better, or if you compare them to hybrids (like a Harley to a hybrid car) they may get worse, way worse MPG. Then add full electrics into the mix (which there are a lot more cars than electric bikes, and a much bigger market for cars than bikes), and things get ugly. The emissions of modern cars today are lower than ever, and very few states have smog testing for bikes at this time, so bikes are also more likely to be non-catted, or have it modified with a de-catted exhaust later.

Even if a car (hybrid or not) did get worse mpg, it still hauls 4+ people with groceries.

Don't lose too much energy arguing with silly old me, as I am on the MC side of the stands! You have to look a the weak points of a argument when you are looking to win it.

You got me all teary-eyed ;)
I hate to disappoint, but there's no interest in your bunghole.
And I graciously linked the mythbuster's "data". How often do drivers have over 1 passenger?
Are you sure your on the MC side. Don't you know to bury them in bullshit?

There is less bad shit from bikes whatever the bad shit of the week is because there are fewer bikes. Next on the net as "proof" will be rays from electric motors in cars exacerbating STDs in harleydoods.

Lane splitting in place where it ain't exactly Kosher ain't a real good idea. The getting busted by the local gendarmes is one, but the cagers who are out to get anybody who gets ahead of them on various slabs, turnpikes, toll roads and loops will pull all sorts of anti-bike stunts.

I am proposing to great leader's Dr. Goebbles of the week (the mooch) to reduce the carbon inprint by half that all bicycles and tricycles be melted down and replaces by unicycles. The Chinese are gonna be pissed but better they nuke us than the North Koreans.

Highlighted in bold above is what I agree will be a major issue. In Cali, lane-splitting it is so common and has been occurring for so many years that it is part of an accepted (tolerated) culture. Try introducing that (whether legal means or not) and you are gonna get some serious road-raging resistance from the cager folk. It might get better over time, however, it would take many years to assimilate it into a new state's culture....IMO
