When I bought our 2014s over a month ago, I bartered for them to include center stands with them. Fast forward a month they call and say 'they're out of stock and no plans to restock them.' They want to cut me a check for the dealer cost of them.

Wonderful. I hop on Partzilla and order two.. 2 weeks later it has had no status change.

Anyone know of a place with the center stand kits physically in stock? Honda's warehouse seems depleted.

Maybe I have to order from EU? All EU models have center stands so I would probably have to piece it together, as I doubt the "kit" will have an EU part number.

It just feels wrong not having a center stand to kick the bike up on for chain maintenance.

Out of stock is NOT your problem, it's theirs

I mean, not really. If it's out of stock and Honda US marks it as not being planned for restock, that's it. They can pay me the value of it, but I can't expect them to will it into existence. They were nice and checked other local dealers, etc.

I was looking at alternative options since going through US OEM channels will probably lead no-where. I guess I can parts it together on lings honda parts uk or CMS and ship the individual components over.

Part numbers are the same world wide for most parts.

Correct, but it's a US only kit/part number because we're the only ones daft enough to sell a model without the center stand. It includes all the bolts and gaskets (yes, you have to drop a header I think) in an all-inclusive package.

could you order the component parts individually?
It might cost more but they're the ones who made the promise they can't keep

Give partzilla a call. I had a part on order and when it hadn't shipped in several days, they looked into it and found that it was on its way from the sourcing warehouse. I had to wait a few more days for them to receive it and then for me to receive their shipment but ultimately I got the part.

Handy for sure, but for almost all cases except travel, you'll be fine with a stand that lives in the garage.
Hope you can find what you want.

Just found them for 59.95 on this site.

That's what I bought mine for last year! I think the dealer wanted $99.95 for one. I cancelled it after finding one on a site like this! And yes you do have to drop the exhaust. FYI. I cheated and had the dealer put mine on. They quoted me .5 hrs to do it so $40 and since it was in there anyway I pulled the trigger on the install. They later told me about the exhaust drop and the shop time should have been 1.25hrs at a cost of about $120. They honored their quote.

Just go ahead and get two Pit Bull stands. You need them anyway and you'll be glad you have them. In hindsight, I consider my bike's center stand that I negotiated at no cost when I bought the bike to be a mistake. If you do your own bike work, the front has to come up safely too. That and protective gear are not where to cheap out. Just another opinion.

    Step 1 for today

I'll call them to check stock if Partzilla is a no go.

You're probably right. Would still love the center stands though, as a VFR800 just feels weird without them. Maybe that's just me.

I went with both the center stand and external stands. On my 5 Gen, which is primarily for fun and track days, I removed the center stand, plus a few other bits to reduce the weight and to gain more ground clearance. However, on my 6 Gen, I left the center stand on, as this is my commuter/tourer bike and when on the road I found having a center really comes in handy. Cant speak for thtanner, but I like having the center stand when I'm away from home, my garage is full of useful tools but unfortunately I can't bring them all with me, so having a built in stand is one less item I need to worry about trying to fit onto my bike.

PartZilla says no, which means any supplier without independent stock is a no go.

I'll probably just piece it together off of a EU part site.

Thumbs, tried to reach out but they blocked direct messages on eBay. Oh well, their loss.

Ordered a Pit Bull stand for now. Still kind of annoyed that Honda US discontinued an accessory that's obviously selling well (because of their failure to include it on the base model.)

I did. I put an order in for two, and we'll see what happens; I figure I'll get a refund, but you never know.

Total is theoretically $110.82 for two.

They have them and you will get them! I used them before and are good about stating out of stock on checkout.

I'll hold ya to it ;)

I mean theoretically they order from the same Honda US warehouse, so unless they kept local stock... Not impossible.

I think sites like this do buy "Overstock" and do warehouse them. I mean they just dropped the price $10 in the last couple of days? They would only do that if they needed to move them due to space I would think. I mean if they are that hard to find I would up the price. ????
