Hopefully she will love it but I've just bought her a RVF400 (NC35) last weekend.... I'll get pictures on Sat as I've had to leave it at my Granmothers house due to not enough SPACE in mine - at least the other NC24 is keeping it company - lol...

Realised that I needed to fix not just this fairing but also the Rothmans set & and I'm happy with the results of this stuff.

All the stickers needed for this model..

    Guess I have a busy day tomorrow...lol

ok, managed to figure out how to get paint onto it & I had a few minor marks that really irritate me. !!

Its the first time I've ever sprayed so steep learning curve - lol

I had a mark on the corner caused by me adjusting the gun near the part - moron !

another from hitting it with the airline - you have to understand hose management - its not in tube vids - lol

another from to much 'primer' (on the tank) causing a sag that I didnt notice until I put the base cost on..

But learning lots & fairly happy with results.

Have now 'fixed' the errors, ordered more paint & looking forward to finishing the white - then onto light blue..

At least you don't have to worry about a compressor!

Wife mentioned once (sure she may be regreting that now - lol) that as I have a large compressor I may as well use it with some air tools - lol...
So that was 'permisson' (ha, ha, ha) ...

Spent the morning masking up & getting the paint booth ready - lol - first good day we have had for a few weeks...

Then this afternnon got the light blue onto 3 panels..

[IMG]P1070393 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

[IMG]P1070391 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

Halfway through masking the side panels I realised it would be better to mount the rear & side panels then get the lines in the right place to paint the blue on them..
    So thats another day...
But the new gun is awesome...
Can't wait to do the red now...

So the process is for each panel:

    2 coats etch primer,
    sand 1000 grit
2 - 3 coats of each colour (base)
Sand 1000 grit - more to remove the masking lines
    1 coat laquer (clear)
    add stickers
    2 coats laquer

So the 2 rear panels are almost ready for laquer (clear) - after I really lightly sand the paint lines & really tiny bit of overspray - arghh.

Are you planning on finishing off the inside of the top fairing in black? IIRC that is how they are in stock trim.

I'm very envious of your painting work; I've only tried a rattle can job for the tail of my VTR and that was a lot of work and not wonderfully successful (it was easier to buy a nicer cowl on eBay).

    Terry,

Over here they seem to be white ! - haven't seen black on this colour scheme.

We have 3 versions that I'm aware of:

    1. RWBB - Red, White, Blue, Dark Blue, - White front mudguard - mine

    2. Rothmans - Bue, White - White front Mudguard also mine lol

    3. BBWR - Black, Blue, White, Red - Black front mudguard - this is the only version with the top fairing painted black..
I also have this top fairing - its black on the inside too...lol

That's the rc30 paint scheme.. it's fairly common on the NC30 but haven't seen it on a NC24.

I'd be happy with the money to able to afford to buy a Big Brother! I still don't think Honda have ever made a prettier colour scheme.

I also like it - but its not going to be painted black - lol

Anyway, today let me put a coat of clear onto 5 (of 8) parts - tail, rear side panels x 2, top cowl & front mudguard. Called the company where I got the vinyl stickers from & they suggested WAITING 4 DAYS before putting the images on - arghhhh... as its best to let the clear set where it will be under the vinyl..

I also made a paper template for the 2 front side panels - these have white, blue, dark blue & red.
This also gives me a little time to make the tank template - white, red, dark blue.

This masking up isn't the easiest but I'm leaning it fast - lol & going through loads of tape...

It has been a good weekend - although weather was awful !

Saturday I started on repairing a couple of panels including 1 of the Rothmans side panels...
This one had a crack, hole, & busted top mount. Filled hole with Plastex & mesh.

[IMG]IMG_2799 by Pete Smith, on Flickr
A few layers of mesh & plastex on the back..

using the mould to get the correct shape
[IMG]IMG_4115 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

got the light blue onto the other panels
[IMG]IMG_0129 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

& today then followed with the dark blue..
[IMG]IMG_7116 by Pete Smith, on Flickr

Just the red to go & only the tank to paint dark blue & red. Just need to make the template for it.
