I did a forum search and didn't get any results related to my issue. After almost 16 years and almost 57,000 miles the ignition switch wires on my bike had enough. One or more of the four wires near the bottom of the switch are broken and creating an intermittent open circuit between battery voltage and, well, everything!

I have searched many online OEM parts sites and all of them show the switch as no longer available. The part number is 35101-MBG-U00, and Honda calls it the "base contact".

Has anyone else on here run into this issue? Does anyone know of a switch off of another Honda model which works? I know that's a stretch.

    Thanks.

I replaced mine with one off ebay £30. Mines got 4 wires coming out of it but there's some listed with 3 wires , check that.

i found a deal on ebay that included a gas cap, the tail latch, and the ignition for around $25. it seems to be good quality, but the ignition is for a 6th gen, so i havent installed it. the ignition barrel is slightly thicker, and doesnt fit through the hole on the triple. i suppose i could grind the ignition cutout on the triple to make it fit, but i'd rather get the correct part.

Hi Spensersdad - hope you've navigated a way through your ignition switch dilemma. If not, I have an ignition switch, gas cap, key, and tail lock assembly from a 1999 5th gen, all in great condition. $50 if you can use them.

Thank you for the offer, but I ended up repairing the wiring harness and reusing my original switch.

Sounds good - glad you've got it sewn up.
