Anyone with the 8th generation know why Honda did not put out a 1000 instead of the 800?

Not much chance in your country where for whatever reason it along with the vfr12 are languishing on the shelves.

    Yes they sell everywhere else.

LOL - I merely asked you to provide some evidence to support your belief that the white VFR was a "sales flop". Your repeated attempts to skirt and divert the subject demonstrate that you were obviously just talking out your ass :D

Well if you want it all just get a Tuono. 450 lbs, 173 hp, 90 lbs of torque, incredible suspension, electronics and brakes. Put a bigger wind screen and some bags and you have a very comfortable sport touring machine that is more than capable of twists and track days. 15k msrp or 17 for the factory. You can pick up the 17 for great prices right now. A beautiful V4 with all the bells and whistles. Stupid fast, great handling and brakes that are amazing.

A Tuono 1100 would be great. But their wet weight is 472, not 450. That is just about where my VFR is at.

Dry weight is pointless. I'm talking curb weight, ready to ride, fully fueled.
The Tuono base model is at 472 and the rr is 5 or 10 pounds less, ready to ride with a full tank.

For comparison sake, a stock sixth gen, non-abs vfr is 470 dry and 540 wet and I think about plus 15 pounds for abs.

About 15 pounds for ABS on 6th gen? The 8th gen base model is 529 wet while the deluxe is 536. Therefore the weight of the ABS, centerstand, and the other deluxe stuff is only 7 pounds combined. So presumably the ABS couldn't add more than just a couple pounds on the 8th gen. That's pretty impressive if they really cut the weight of ABS from 15 down to 2. Interestingly, in the article linked below Motorcyclist said the weight of the 8th gen deluxe is 502 pounds with an empty gas tank and 536 with a full tank, so presumably we can all shave 17 pounds by just filling the tank halfway (and we'd still have about the same range as a fully fueled Ducati "Supersport":D )

2017 wet weight is 461. I bet you could easily get it to sub 450.
Power/weight ratio: 0.9511 HP/kg is very impressive. This is a super bike with a comfortable riding position.
Did you read all the features that come with this bike? Really incredible tech. All the reports from flogging it at various tracks give it excellent reviews. People are sport touring these all over the place. The only big downside I see is it is fairly expensive.
Don't get me wrong, I love my VFR, just would like a Tune too. I'm down to 4 bikes and need another. lol

All of this to ride in straight lines in Florida, LOL!!!???

Sorry, Gator, nothing personal meant but this just couldn't be passed up! You're an asset to the forum unlike some people that are not allowed into The Sunbelt. There's a reason they live in places with shitty weather.......

Cost to develop, manufacture, and added weight are just three reasons. People complain enough about the VFR 800 in America so why would Honda want more of it? Were I Honda, I wouldn't offer it for sale in the USA. How much profit do you think the 8th gen. in America adds to Honda's bottom line? Do you think enough riders like them enough to buy one at a price that really is reasonable considering the engine configuration, intended use, and other things? In reading this forum and others, the VFR is a loser in the USA yet people still buy a few then go straight to a forum to complain about them and criticise them. I bought one and actually like it. I didn't like the OEM muffler so it doesn't have one any longer. That's the only change I made. Obviously, I'm not your normal VFR rider so there's another answer ; )

There are a lot of twists in Fl if you know where to ride. I also take various bikes to Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio etc.

Sugarloaf Mountain (not really a mountain. It is more of a big hill by any other state's standards lol), Ocala national forest etc are really nice riding areas.

When I went to collage at UF we found tons of fun roads to ride. Had a RD 350 back then and for a short while a KZ 1000. Ocala NF was a beautiful ride. West and east of Gainesville were some fun twisty roads, just star away from Polatka, that paper mill stunk horribly for many miles.

They can keep the fresh air and the unicorn farts, but supermodels should definitely be standard equipment. :)

To answer the original question of this thread.

Why didn't they make it a 1000 instead of an 800? It didn't need it.

The actual truth might be that they still had a lot of those engines and frames lying around from the previous generation.
