OK people. Who is going to be watching the Olympic hockey this year? I think a lot of it may be played while we are supposed to be sleeping.

Normally, I do not follow hockey. I am not much of a sports fan. But I like my Olympic Hockey. Of course the men's is the stuff to see, but the women's hockey is far better hockey in my mind.

What may prove to be interesting this years games is that NHL players will not be playing on the national teams. This could bring a huge change of game leaders.

Here is a link to the schedule for hockey. I hope to see all of the Canadian games and will be interested in the USA games as well. I will also be watching curling where I can. https://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/team-canada/men/olympics/2018/stats/schedule

    Lets see what happens.

I'm hoping that Canada and USA meet in the final in both the men's and women's.

Cheering on both countries until they meet, then I'll have to go with my home team.

I prefer not having the NHL players in the games.

I agree. Especially in the past with the Canadians. Most of the really good hockey players in the NHL used to be from Canada.

What lead up to allowing pro hockey into the amateur Olympics back in the day of the USSR where their hockey players were military and they trained and played as a profession. But now, the playing field should be much more level now that the NHL is not involved. So I am quite looking forward to see if we do as well as we did in the past.

Not to start anything here though. I hope if Team USA gets knocked out of the gold/silver opportunity, they don't repeat what they did in Sochi. That was poor at best. When they were playing for the bronze, they made NO effort to win the bronze what so ever. That was a shame.

Too bad we did not live closer together. We could have gotten together should Canada play USA for the gold again. We could have thrown beer bottles at each other and put up the dukes across the table woth each other

Ha Ha!!!! That is very insightful Randy, because the only thing that I would do with a beer bottle is use it as a target or throw it at a target. I, however, am not so invested in USA hockey that I would throw anything at you for cheering on team Canada (fist or bottle). Not against spending time with a brother Viffer, that is always a good idea.

Just watched an hour of Olympics, and all i saw was people marching slowly, waving national flags, hugging and embracing, and a guy going downhill on his back. How athletic or well-trained does someone need to be for that ???

Don't count them out yet. A loss at the beginning of the series is not the end all. Seems Canada has done that a few times but have fought back to get the gold. Sure it is a let down but stay with your guys. What will be interesting to see is haw the men hockey does this time around seeing as there are no NHL players on the teams. Both Canada and USA are going to have to be absolutely on the top of their games. The Sweeds are going to be a tough floe

So here's the really sad thing about this.

Canada and USA women are playing off for the gold in hockey. The winner obviously wins the gold medal. The team that does not win, still gets the silver. Silver is not gold I admit, but Silver is pretty fukken good. Regardless of that, right at the end of that game, the silver winners are depressed because the lost the Gold. They are such a sad looking bunch.

Now. Right after that game they award the medals. I mean RIGHT AFTER that game. Obviously the gold winners are grinning from ear to ear. The Bronze winners who won in the game previous to this, are grinning from ear to ear. The Silver winners should be standing there grinning from ear to ear, yet they would not be, because they were defeated in the race to Gold. The Olympic Organizing Committee has robbed the Silver winners the chance to celebrate their great achievement becasue they just lost the gold moments ago.

That has just so much wrong in it I can't believe they still do this. Why not separate the gold medal game from the awarding of the medals for a day? This gives the winners of the Silver, and opportunity to get over the loss of the Gold and cherish the winning of the silver.

Canada men's team made semifinals. USA is out of the running.
No flying beer bottles for the men's games anymore!

But, the women play each other today. Watch out Randy, this bottle is full.

The U.S. was ousted from the Olympics with a 3-2 overtime loss to the Czech Republic on Wednesday.
Go Canada, Randy and I are now on the same side in the men's competiton.
I wish I could have watched last night's women's game, it sounds like it was a thriller.

It was some really good hockey. I have often said, the Woman's Olympic Hockey is probably the best played hockey out there. The competition between the USA and Canada is as fierce as it comes when it comes to hockey, especially at the Olympics, and even more so when it is the women.

At each of the four previous Olympics, it was the same only with a different outcome. I do believe in those previous games, Canada won because we had the better team....JUST! This time USA had the better team....JUST!

Makes for the greatest hockey out there.

Looking forward to the mens. The big difference this year and with the hockey, like every other sport in the Games, we have returned to armature status, which it always should have been. No NHL players. Keep it that way. But that was brought on my the former USSR having their teams made up of soldiers whose only work as a soldier was to practice and play hockey. Cheating at play as expected.

Did you see the reaction of one of the Canadian players after the silver medals were presented? If not, click here http://woodtv.com/2018/02/22/sulking-at-silver-canadian-hockey-player-refuses-to-wear-medal/

I did. That is not unheard of at all. Really poor sportsmanship but far too common.

The way the USA mens team acted in Sochi was far worse. They got knocked out of the running for gold and were to play for bronz. I watched that game. The USA was a good team in those Olympics but they did not even try to win for the bronze in that game.

As far as the Canadian woman who was depicted here goes, they got caught in the poor way they are presented with thier silver, right after loosing the gold. That is what they are thinking there. They lost the gold instead of winning the silver. I felt bad for the USA in the last few Olympics for the same reason, They need to change the way they award the medals for team games.

Just look at the skiers and skaters. They are all smiling from ear to ear and it is all hugs and handshakes.
