    hello everyone,

I recently just picked up a 1990 VFR 750f for $750. It needs some love. Turns out the person who had it before me stripped it, replaced the subframe with a buell and customized some other things on it. All of which is going to be undone. I’m going to be in the process of returning this bike to OEM. Some people may say don’t bother because it’s old or it has 75k on it but it runs strong and I love the look of that generation.

Hopefully this site can help me with fixing it up!!!

If I knew how to insert an image I would lol. Maybe someone can help me with that as well.

    Have a good day :)

Welcome to the World! I would like to see a photo of your bike, so I will try to help.

To add a photo to a post, click on the "Upload a File" button to the right of the "Post Reply" button in Red.

You will need to have a photo saved on your computer, and be able to find it after clicking the afore mentioned "Upload a File" button.

    Hope that helps.

The next photo is how they attached the buell to it. Compleatly unsafe and ridiculous. Total hack job so I’m putting it back to normal. I need to find fairings. I posted a “wanted” for fairings. She’s a work in progress. I’m going to be combing through it over the next couple months. Hopefully I’ll ride it this year. If not id rather be safe than sorry. It needs an oem muffler, doesn’t have a horn lol. Work in progress.

welcome to vfrworld. Where are you in maine? I live in the midcoast area. If you are close to me maybe we can get together sometime. I also have a 3rd gen vfr. Looks like you have quite a bit of work to do. I have a nice 2 bro's pipe that will fit your bike and maybe some other stuff to. 20170430_091505.jpg

Thanks for the reply! I’m in southern Maine :). Your bike is beautiful. I love the rear end on these things. I think they’re modern/retro at the same time. It will be a long road before I’m there but hopefully eBay will work for fairings. I’ll fix them if they’re cracked. How much are you looking to get for the muffler? Right now it’s straight piped and sounds awful.

There are so many things that this person took short cuts on my projected timeline to get it on the road this year may not happen because of money. But I will restore it.

Red fairings are a little easier to find. There is not much for used body parts available. You will spend a lot on restoring this bike. It will take u a long time. Is the bike ridable now? You may be better trying to fix what u have for now and start collecting parts. People make naked sportbikes out of these and some look cool. Search youtube and get some ideas where u can go with this project. The bike will sound and handle like the vfr it is underneath. Also the wheels are 93. White only year

i have been watching that thing on craigslist for about a year, he started at $1000. I offered him $500 and he obviously said no. when I saw it at $750 I almost re offered the $500 but don't have room for a 4th vfr

Hahaha how funny is that. I didn’t know it was up there that long. It runs well no where near ready to ride. I need to go through it. The new subframe came today and the new seat came yesterday so I’m that close. It has a hole in the radiator so I need a new one of those, I need to go through every bolt and make sure they’re right. It’s been hacked together. Hopefully in the end when I’m done it will look nice again. It has potential, only reason I say that is because I have determination. Where in Maine are you located? Southern? Mid?

It’s coming together slowly. Still need to narrow down the front uppers, a muffler and a radiator before I can put it on the road. It needs minor stuff of course but getting closer.

    Wow! Good luck.

Some times it's easy for those of us who live in relatively warmer climes to forget that people like you are battling the elements, as well as trying to find parts for older Gen 'bikes. (I have a 5th Gen, and am already on a bit of a mission to "stock pile" spares for it for the future).

I sincerely wish you all the best for the project!
