    Hello fellow VFR owners

After much research and consideration I decided to buy a pair of Knight Design Lowered Foot Pegs for my newly purchased VFR 800 (6th gen).

While doing my research prior to purchasing, I found it difficult to find comprehensive information on the product such as fitment, modification required (if any), etc. So having now installed them I decided to post a thread with pictures and information for anyone trying to decide between these or the BLS lowering block alternative.

I purchased the sidetrax model in anodised silver. These are also available in black.

These are supposed to drop the peg height by 35mm (1" 3/4) which puts the underside of the peg around the same height as the bottom of the stock peg feelers, so I don't imagine you would lose much ground clearance, if any.

Installation was straight forward. Just like installing any other peg, except you will need to adjust the shift and brake levers to a height suitable for the lower peg height. For me this was 1 spline down on the shifter, and max downward adjustment on the brake via the adjustment rod. This put the controls pretty close to stock angles relative to the pegs.

The footing area of the pegs is cut very close to the mounting point, no further outward than stock. An example of what I'm talking about is Vario Pegs, which have a rotating mechanism between the mounting point and the peg itself. Here are some pics from above:

The thing I was most concerned about was whether the side stand would clear the left peg and my foot when on the bike. The stand clears the peg with ease and although it looks close in the photo, even with my foot on top or under the shifter, my boot does not contact the kickstand in any areas. Thus, no modification is required.

I would say that these pegs are dropped as far as possible before clearance to the stand becomes an issue. Good to see these things were taken into consideration during its design.

I sat on the bike with one stock peg and one Knight peg fitted, and I could feel a noticeable difference in knee bend on the lowered side. I think anyone who is around my height (6'3") will appreciate this.

All in all, I think these are a fantastic bolt-on product and a good alternative to Vario Pegs and BLS lowering blocks, although they do run a higher price than the BLS blocks, so keep that in mind.

Hopefully this is helpful to anyone looking for further detail on this product.

    Thanks for reading.

Well done, I have had these same pegs since early 2015. Made my riding position a lot more comfortable for my old carcass.

I also have the same ones and agree they are a decent drop. It's 35mm or 1.375". I find that I do drag them on corners but not too badly. And I found the rear brake lever height does need to be dropped to make the overall fit comfortable. (but that's pretty easy once I took the brake mechanism apart and figured it out...)

    Good report!

Easy installation, adjusting brake and brake light linkage takes more time.

Yeah absolutely. The brake light switch was fiddly but nothing too bad.
