I have Honda SP1 calipers on my 5th gen, and recently bought Vesrah sintered pads for them as they were on special at AU$69 for a set of four.
They are not as good as the EBC HH pads, they stop as well, but don't have that wonderfull first bite that the EBC's have.
Also the EBC seem to work as good cold as hot, where the Vesrah's take a few aplications to feel good.

I washed it, so I thought I would post a few pics before it gets dirty again tomorrow.

So, I am going for a long(ish) ride on the 28th so i thought I would change the oil. As soon as I pulled the left fairing I had an Oh Oh moment. The coolant tank was well below the "low" mark. I changed the oil and filter, started the bike and ran it until it got warmed up. A tiny drop of coolant appeared just below the water pump. I felt around and determined that I had a bit of wetness at the upper hose junction. I put half a turn on the clamp and tried again. No joy. The water pump seal is leaking. I ordered another one from my dealer and it should be in mid week. It looks like i am going to do a coolant flush now.

Gen 5. I moved the air temperature sensor from 3 inches from the radiator to below the Speedo/tach. I'm hoping to get an accurate reading. I'll test it tomorrow.

Rode mine. Even at this late date, a dip into a lower topographical area with a pond/swamp meant that the face-shield and front of the bike have numerous little tiny bugs splattered.

Love to see the old V65 full fairing Sabres. I really wanted the 1981 CBX 6 cylinder, but when the 1984 V65 full fairing came out on the showroom floor and I was in love. I worked at a Honda shop as a parts kid from 1984-1985. Sadly the only thing that I could afford at 16 was a CH-125 scooter. You know the "Grace Jones - Billy Idol" model. ;-) I always love a well dressed bike. Something about curves and style covering amazing engines. I would have never bought the 03 Suzuki Sv1000s without adding the optional OEM fairing.

My brother had one before his VFR. He ended up being life long friends with a group of people who all rode them at the time. Only a couple still riding the Sabre, but they're a great group to hang with.
    A couple more pics

Yeah, they had a ride in my area, and I was invited to ride with them. I had a great time, and laughed my ass off at every stop.

Love that bike. I never rode one, but looked at a lot behind the parts counter. For me I only wanted it with the fairing/cowling (I always say fairing and it should be cowling). I looked in the papers and online for one of these (25 years ago) and found one without the cowling. I tried to find a matching used cowling, and obviously not, so I moved on.

Rode it 292 miles in the Appalachian and Cumberland twisties yesterday. STILL can't wear out the rear tire. I thought if an 8th gen will burn oil I'd find out yesterday with all the engine braking and hard acceleration I did. Got home and the oil level is the same. VFR's just don't use oil (syn. 10W-40). Mine don't anyway and they all have had a life of hard running.

Wiped the dirt and insects off of it with a wet rag, let it dry, sprayed on the newest version of Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish rather thick, rubbed in in a little, let it sit and dry over night. I wiped it off this morning and it's a great carnauba wax job. The newest formulation of the Honda spray is really good stuff.

I got it at my local Honda dealer and I just checked Amazon and they have it. It leaves a really nice smooth shiny wax job if you let it dry. ; ) As daughter says, "it's all about looking good".

Yes, you are right. Highway 412 from OK to AR is just a few hours away. I'm hoping to get time in the next few weeks to see the foliage. I did a run in April, but would love to see it in fall.
