You will be quite happy with the Q3's. It's one of the few tires that people actually ride to the track, run a full track day, and ride home. I went the Roadsmart III route with my new rear, but the front is still an older Q2. The only reason for a RSIII, was that I do ride some in winter (Napa, CA has pretty awesome weather), and in the wet the Q2 is not the best. I figured that the extremely positive write ups of the RSIII made it the logical choice when my rear needed replacing, and I will replace the Q2 with an RSIII down the road. I will say that the combination of Q2 front and RSIII in rear is totally confidence inspiring for summer riding.

As to working on your bike. I have been the only person to touch my motorcycles since I was about 22, so I say have at it with the VFR.

i used the goop and torqued the bolts to the right spec and it no longer leaks. i filled up the gas tank and SHE LIVES!!!!!!
sadly, i cant take her out for a victory run, as the new tires arent in, and the front looks deadly.

Ok, I found one finally! I bought the white one that had been on CL for several weeks. 2000 model Gen 5. It was $1300.00. Did not run when I looked at it but it magically started up after screwing around with it for a while. Needs a lot of TLC as you can imagine. Keep in touch.

I have never interchanged tires from front to rear. Are you saying that it is a good idea? I also do not keep fronts on when the back is bad. Am I wasting good money?

I have had Dunlop Q somethings on my'98 since they first came out. I got tired of buying a new rear every 9 months so went with a Michelin rear the guys at the shop recommended. So now I have a fairly new Dunlop Q2 on the front and a new Michelin on the rear and I love the combination. This is the 1st time I've had different brands but I don't notice anything negative.

I've never mixed any of my tires - but then again I generally wear them out at the same time... about 4000m
