    Sorry, Randy...

I agree with all you said BUT he doesn't mention THE CENTRE STAND AT ALL.....

he doesn't say he uses the centre stand to get the front wheel off, then puts the bar through the axle then puts the rear stand on..... although I suspect he does this...

The rear stand is not a centre stand - one generally comes attached to the bike & one doesn't..

Also, If you put the bike onto a rear stand the weight on the front wheel is far more than 20 pounds - please note I said rear stand not centre stand.

If you've a rack or top-box fitted then just stick something heavy in that.

On my 800 FiX (1999) I sometimes use a large container of water in the Givi box

You won't need too much weight, because the amount of weight on the front wheel when the bike is on the centre stand is not much more than the weight of the wheel and tyre when its removed, so the bike will actually just about balance.

If I want more stability then I use wooden blocks under the engine, with a piece of heavy rubber on top of the wood to stop the bike slipping.

I missed that fine point. Went back to take a look. I assumed Mofo meant the OEM centre stand. My bad. Mofo's fault. He should be flogged! Then again, he just might enjoy a good gentle flogging. Yes using a "rear" stand would actually transfer even more weight on that front wheel wile the Centre stand transfers very little.

I have pit bull stands and motorcycle lifts but when I change tires on the VFR all I do is put it on the center stand and then put a cut piece of 4x4 under the pipes. Done in about 5 seconds. The CBR tack bike stays on Pit bull stands while in the garage.
