Howdy. 35 yrs seat time. MX & Superbike.
Looking at 2 vfrs (owned 70 bikes but no vfrs) kinda stuck deciding between the 2.
    1. 2002 Red,8850mi, bone stock,1 owner never dropped or dumped,always garaged,no scratches. $2500usd,3hr drive ($100/gas)

    2. 2006 Black,32,000mi,1 owner, never dropped or dumped, always garaged, has a few light scratches on the tank from tank bag and a few other small nick's here and there but no rash on any plastics. $2800usd. This one has a few upgrades because the owner went on Long rides. These extras would be sold on ebaaay because I want to put the bike back to completely stock. 1. Corbin gunfighter seat,2. two bros vale exhaust 3. Lower footpegs. He has all the original parts and every original Nut and Bolt so putting it back to stock will be easy.
Selling those extras should bring the price down to the same or below as the first bike.
I would appreciate any input because you guys have much more experience with these bikes than I do. Thx

    I’d say the second one.
See if he’s upgraded the stator or RR
Does it have a black frame?
May want to keep the 2 bros so you can hear that beautiful v4 music otherwise it just sounds like a sewing machine stock.
    Good luck

Thats a tough one both are more than fair price wise, me, I'm liking the sound of the 02 just because it's probably red. VFRs need to be red... but that black one ain't bad. I'd try the seat out first, then ask if he's done the 32k valve check yea hang onto the 2bros.

I'm not a 6th gen expert but IIRC 2006 was the year Honda tweaked the VTEC to make it a smoother transition or something, so that may weigh in favor of the '06. Do they both have ABS? I believe that was optional on the 6th gen, so another thing to check for between the two depending on your affinity for ABS. Other than that I would just choose the color you prefer. They both sound like they are in very good condition - since they are the original owners they should be able to document their maintenance history for you.

Neither has abs. The black one is 2 miles from my house. The red one is over 300 miles away. The red one has never even seen a raindrop but the black one has been ridden in the rain regularly. The black one is well used but not abused. Both owners are in their 60s.
I'm kind of leaning toward the black one because the accessories will be sold reducing the price to under 2500 and I will put it back to bone stock. It will clean up but the red one is collector quality condition and I'm afraid that would keep me from riding it as much as I would like for fear of getting it dirty or racking up miles on it. I'll try to upload a picture, but you can see on the red one the condition of the brake fittings and everything else that it's still very crisp and it's never been exposed to the elements. Brake line fittings Etc still shine like new.

Yeah, I'm all about the low miles/condition of the bike. If you do get the 2006, please let me know where the red one is so I can look into buying it, I'm serious.

If you get the 06, I'll be happy to buy the lower foot pegs and may be the seat from you.
Good luck with whichever bike you get.

If valve check hasn't been done on 06 then call your local mechanic and get a price, should be taken into consideration if you care about such. Many; however, never check valves and have many happy miles.
