    Hi Folks!

I am a new VFR owner although I had one years ago. I found a 5th Gen at the wrecking yard. I bought it to put the tank on a VTR I have but after looking it over I am considering saving it. The forks and fairings are bad, missing the headlight but otherwise it looks really good. I got the engine to start after just a bit of work. The electric seems good. I have to take it apart and see if there is any frame damage but if there isn't I think I'll try to find some forks for it and see if I can get it back on the road. I am sure I will need lots of advice. I put on some pics and want your opinion on this project. Do you think she can be saved?

    Thanks!! - John

I was in the same boat a little over a year ago and can say that it took some time, and some money, to get it all back together and on the road. I can also say that many on the forum were of great help. I was able to obtain quite a bit of parts from a member (Thanks Joey_Dude!) and picked up a few bits of advise along the way. As long as the frame isn't damaged, you should be able to get it all back together but there may be bits and pieces that you'll need to source used as the 5 gen is slowly losing parts availability from Honda.

Here is my story, if you're interested...

    And a follow up too.

Feel free to ask me questions and Good Luck!

Looks like a hard hit, and frame may be damaged in the steering head area.

    That bike is toast,..

It was listed or well is listed on St.Louis Craigslist,..

I went back and forth a little with either you or the guy you bought it from on some of the parts,..

Can it be fixed,.. probably.. should it,.. no hell no its toast. Throwing good money after bad just find one thats not all jacked up and never look back~ you have a bunch of nice spare parts to boot through owning this bike,..

Hope the guy that wrecked it lived through that crash.
