Here's a video of me chasing Lint. I ended up taking my 6 Gen but was really skeptical of riding on the Road 5 tires at the track. I figured they would be fine for most street use and even a little spirited riding but had no idea of how they would hold up on the track. Happy to say that they didn't fail me! Then again, at the back of my mind almost all the time I was riding, I was thinking "This is your commuter, don't do anything stupid!". On the first day I was kind of curious of where the tire limits were but thought better of it. Really wish I was able to bring my 5 gen, long story short, it's running and capable of being on the track, just not street legal at the moment.

Thanks mang! Now I know why they use cameras on the coach's bikes! I definitely see areas I need to improve. Still not too bad for my second track day ever! Next time, I'm getting the right tires! Definitely no PR4 anymore. I was so concerned about them slipping on me, which they definitely did!

I can't wait for the next one!!!

That was one of the reasons I wanted you in front, although I do have the rear facing camera t00, easier to see I think! Although you cannot see me directly, you can see hesitation in my riding based on the engine noise, as I was a little concerned about how the Road 5 would work and with this being my commuter, I really didn't want to push too hard! They did a good job so I'm happy with that. If you're planning on doing more track time, the deal they have on the Q3+ is hard to beat! However, any tire, regardless of longevity built into the compound, won't last too long with just track days on them.

Hopefully I can do this again sooner, rather than later but work load will dictate that.

Track days are definitely fun, don't underestimate some of todays ST tyres, they can be pushed hard and are very predictable.
Lint, you need to drop your shoulder mate, most of them corners you have your lower body and knees out, but your head and shoulders on the wrong side of the bike.
We have a saying here, if in doubt, drop your shoulder and gun it.
Please dont take it as criticism, just trying to help.

Plumbed in the battery & fired it up whilst it was snowing outside..
Started on the button. Ran it for 10 mins and checked it over - to get it ready for its yearly test. All ready to go
    The 800 is running sweet.
Added a couple of jobs to my checklist... clutch fluid replacement & coolant replacement - to be done later in the year..

I’m sure the Road 5 could handle much more than I was giving it, I was just being a little more cautious, a little paranoid if you will. My main concern was getting home unscathed! That’s the one issue when riding to the the track, making sure you can ride it back home. Plus, I just feel more comfortable riding hard on the 5 Gen, it’s why I bought it in the first place, a VFR I can be more playful with. Both are good and capable bikes but for track time, the 5 Gen is the one I SHOULD be taking, at least that’s the deal I made with the wife, 6 Gen for commuting/touring and the 5 Gen for play. I’m actually thinking about trying my 900SS at the track again.

Yeah, not nice having to get a lift.
I talked my mate into doing his first track day at Eastern Creek on his immaculate ZZR 1400.
Second session he high sided and wrote it off.
The bike tumbled length ways about three times.
I waited for him at the pits and when he got there he stated “at least it’s insured”.
I felt really bad to not only having talked into coming, but also breaking the news that there is no insurance at a track day.
I have never talked people into coming on track days again.

I actually absolutely agree! The next day I was a lot more, next time I'm there, I'm practicing just that. I need to get my body off of the bike more in order to hold the bike up more. I actually scraped my header that day. OOTV pointed it out to me. I was too far over the bike, not enough off of it, so I was leaning it too much. Pegs were scraped regularly.

The second day there I was concentrating on holding the bike with my outside knee, so I could keep my arms loose. A couple of the turns were pretty bumpy, uuso I wanted to make sure I wasn't gripping the bars hard, which fights the natural movement of the front end. Holding the bike with my body vs my arms made it so much easier to ride. I've known about it for a long time and I do try and use it on the street, but I RARELY ride close to the track level on the roads, it's just stupid dangerous, because you just never know.

That's the beauty of dropping your shoulder, and I mean forward and down into the turn, it forces you to take the weight of the bars and bends your elbows.
I find it easier no to bother too much with trying to scrape a knee, and concentrate more on my upper body.

Gorgeous weather today so I took her for a nice ride. Stopped at a store to buy some new earplugs - I seem to always misplace/lose the damn things! Had to take a pic of this cool green Camaro too :D

Rode to my employee's place to drop off a package and had lunch at an L.A. Landmark...then went to see my mom, like a good son would!

IMG_0492.JPG I added my Chinese folding logoed (VFR-Honda)bar levers! I like them, but if one of those little screws comes out I am Fucked. So I will go out and buy little locking washers and carry the originals under the seat just in case!;-)
