Make sure you go. I recall when wife and I went over there a few years ago, especially in Scotland, one of the most prominent thoughts going through my mind was, "if I could only have brought my bike!"

I think many of us over here in Canada and probably the USA as well, have hige misconceptions of what the landscape is like over in the UK. I was so surprised to see the wide open spaces and grain fields of England. When we got to Scotland, I was amazed to seethe huge forests of what looked like fir trees. It appeared to be well managed forestry too. I really did not expect to see mountains to the extent they have them, and to see snow tops. Now granted, the mountains there are not the Swiss Alps or the Canadian Rockies but there are there.

Beautiful country, Scotland is. Really want to get back over there someday. Now. If the authorities can only get control over that Fink sod, it would be as near perfect as can be. Maybe I can become a Scottish Immigrant to Scotland.

That did not help SLOVFR and myself back in 2014, the last time I was down for R3. Can't remember what hwy intersection we were using but we were on our way back to Lompoc and were about 10 miles south east when we got pulled over by CHIPS. SLOVFR came right out and told him I was a former Mountie but that made no difference. It was clear to me that this guy had a disliking towards out type of bike. We both saw him out in the open and he was dealing with a car at roadside so we were behaving. Suddenly he was on our tails with the lights flashing. Soon afterwards he presented us both with "Welcome to California" brochures.

I wished I had the time to stick around and dispute the ticket in court. But I had other plans on that trip which included getting lost somewhere north of Fort Collins Colorado. Met TinkerinWstuff for a burger and beer there. That was a great ride that year.
