I'm in Tucson, AZ and planning to go and camp.
    Anyone planning to be there?

Read an old post about the trackside camping sites being like totally bogart at COTA.
Has anyone been in the shit, there?

I camped at Indy GP 2 years running, and thought it was a good value and there was good fun around the campfires. One year I got some nice moto gear stolen, but it didn't make me bitter.

I went last year in those sites were already filled up when I was calling a month in advance. The camping sites that is. And they were winning outrageous price as well. The site is really full because many people go in together on it and said as much stuff on the plot as possible. Would make it hard to watch your stuff when you're running around. I stayed in a camp in a nearby City. Cheap quiet and safe. But with that said, if I was going this year I would probably try to squeeze my single man tent in my friends' camp plot just to say I did it once.

I am very sad I cannot go this year, but I'm very happy some of you are and hope you post up about it! The general admission tickets are the way to go in my opinion. Many people that I talked to didn't stay in their seats and spent most of the time running around general admission anyway. I think being able to walk around and see the race from different turns is a lot better than sitting my tock in a seat the whole time.

That Handbuilt Motorcycle Show looks amazing. If it was going on last year, I completely missed it.

Anyone looking forward to test riding? My friend Russ will be in the Honda tent giving test rides. Tell him hello for me and maybe request the test ride to be a little bit more spirited. Hope you all have some fun!

Oh and climb the tower! It's a real treat! Now I'm getting excited for you all LOL

Today was spent checking on prices and availability.
I will not be held hostage! If I pay 120 dollars for a tent campsite, then the terrorists have won!!! I wiil be staying about an hour outside of COTA.
Separate issue, I think. Crossing the State of Texas, not even close to Austin- every State Park I clicked on was booked up for weekend and weeknights. I think in the Spring, West Texas residents get out and take advantage of the best time of year. God bless their hearts.
Thundershowers are expected on Saturday night!!!! That will mess up a lot of campers Pampers.
From what I know about weather, it may roll through on Friday night, or Sunday day. Only Heaven knows. But taking it on face value, its going to be rough on the rough riders. Folks in RVs are going to be laughing at the riff raff.
Read your account, AM. Helpful! Will try to emulate your photo genius. GA is always the way to go for motorsports. The parade of humanity is the real reason we go. You can't find that in a 'seat'!! :Peep: I have the luxury of more time than you. 2 days inbound, and 2 days outbound. On Sunday night, after the race, should have my pick of motels at 1/2 price.
Professor highway star, if your 3 buddies don't ride VFR's and don't drink beer- shoot me a PM. Will solve both problems.
Indy had two good bars near the entrances. COTA kinda strikes me as controlled and disinfected. Are there any sleazy trackside bars? Where they serve beers at 8am? And don't cut you off??
