Hey ES (and everyone else), the way I see it, once a VFR owner, always a VFR owner - if you're not currently riding a VFR or you don't currently have one in your garage, you're only in between VFRs... ;)

The good news is, you don't have to agree with me and vice versa. I didn't think my post would win any popularity contests.

Guy is so insular, his only view of life must be his own colon.
If you want an American only forum, create one and police it so it remains so.
    This is VFRWORLD, not VFRAMERICA.
Still waiting to the answer as why such an anti anything non American, chooses a British literary and movie icon as his screen name.

Actually Greg you are wrong, you can own an automatic weapon if you pay for the federal tax stamp and background check. There are a lot of private citizens with full automatics. But I do not know of a single case where a law abiding citizen with one committed a murder. None of the shootings that are in the news are automatic. I have quite a few friends from the UK and understand there views and most of them understand that I am a avid sportsman that likes to shoot semi autos. The Genie is out of the bottle, and guns are not going away here. Like Lint said and Fink agreed it is a people problem. Lints numbers on drunk and distracted drivers is massively more of a problem, just not as dramatic as a school shooting.

Once the cars are driverless - in the next 20 years I suspect the opinions may change about even semi autos..

Ironic as this may at first seem, it is a real possibility. Week before last, in Phoenix, a lady was killed crossing the street walking her bicycle, by a Uber test vehicle. The safety driver had her head down until a split second before impact, too late to avert the collision. The Governor immediately cancelled approval of all self-driving test cars in Arizona (which was really swell of him beings how he was the one to approve the deal!!).

There are a lot of folks upset and demanding, just short of real blood over this incident.

I agree. I own guns but not autos. Like Link said, Some statistics, that actually I have posted on other sites- that in the State of Utah and nationally more accidents are commented with death, dismemberment and lifetime consequences of "Distracted Driver" compared to the victims than Drunk Driving. To bad society judges an addiction of the past with huge repercussions and not the new "Addiction" of a screen. Both are addictions due to giving the person a mental dose of dopamine and creating pleasure and needing one or the other most of the time. Even while driving. I feel that any distracted driver suffer the same jail time, loss of license, and financial burden for there choice as a "drunk driver". That included jail time if serious injuries or death occur. We should IMO change the term to "Impaired drivers" so that any distraction or physical issue is covered under the same laws. But, no one wants to see a soccer mom that killed 3 people on her way to pick up the kids because she was texting them! That is Bullshit. How many people die due to both alcohol-drug and distracted driving in the U.S. compared to guns? This issue is growing at such an alarming rate. You are more likely to die or your children dying driving them to school than by a gunman. I am NOT saying this is NOT tragic, but so is many things in life that are not perpetrated in the public eye with this topic. Just political bullshit motivating the issue of guns, and yes with mine and the public concern. But we choose our fights and some that are just equally passed by because of political and propaganda owned media like anything owned by Sinclair.

As I said, once the cars stop killing people - due to crappy drivers - then public opinion will look at the other targets. Sadly guns is next on that list..

It's just a matter of time.

People will kill themselves no matter how many systems you put in place to try & prevent it.

Never said it was your literal name, I've repeatedly asked why you chose it as your screen name. Yet again you are avoiding the question. Only one reason why, you can't answer it in a way that suits your insularity.
    Hows that colon looking today?

It's true that this is a people problem. There are some people out there who really shouldn't be allowed to own guns and particularly not military style hardware. So it's really a question of how do you minimise the harm that those dangerous individuals can do. There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Just an observation, it's a very fine line between an illegal fully automatic weapon and a perfectly legal semiautomatic weapon fitted with a perfectly legal (at the time) bump stock that turns it into the functional equivalent of a fully automatic weapon. There are also semi automatics that are fairly simple to modify to turn into a fully automatic. If you're serious about mininising the damage that those rare individuals that go off the reservation can do, then you legislate out anything that makes it easier for them to get their hands on the hardware that makes mass murder easier to achieve. Background checks, really not that hard to achieve in any seriously motivated country. There are a lot of back ground checks in US states, but there are loop holes that most people can find their way through fairly easily. Even just closing those loop holes would help. Strict rules about safe and secure storage and transport, pretty easy too. Limitations on the really lethal hardware, that was a bit harder here, but we managed it. It would be a lot harder in the USA, as the genie is well and truly out of the bottle in terms of the number of military style guns in the community. Still possible, but only if there is enough political and community will to make it happen.

We made some changes in Australia, that are often misrepresented in the USA. We can still get access to semiautomatic rifles if we have a legitimate need for them. Very few people actually need them. I can still get a licence for a pistol, or a rifle or a shotgun, I can still go target shooting or hunting or clay pigeon shooting. We have tighter rules and supervision over how we store guns and transport guns that makes it harder for people to steal them. We still have criminals with guns, obviously laws don't really stop people who don't obey laws. But despite that, we haven't had a mass shooting since the Port Arthur Massacre. Our solution fitted us, you guys will have to find your own ways to minimise the harm that dangerous individuals can do. It isn't one size fits all, but you have plenty of smart people over there, if you get around to being serious about this problem I'm sure you will find your own solutions to this in your own time.

I'll never ever answer one of your questions because, obviously, by not doing so, pisses you off an awful lot. Now that's rather enjoyable, LOL!!

Colon is obviously still looking mighty fine.
No, the reason you won't answer is simple and everyone here knows exactly why.
You simply cannot explain why you chose a British literary and movie icon as your forum name because you have backed yourself into a corner after your anti British comments.
You've just made yourself look exceptionally silly.
Even Bubba, one of the most easy going personalities on the forum, is calling you out on another thread for your arrogance.

Perhaps if you ask nicely, Admin will change your name to John Paul Revere.

I have no idea. Couldn’t give a shit as I don’t live in England. Good grief you couldn’t even get that right, even although my location is posted. Obviously reading and geography are not your strong points.

I would suggest to take a look at post 154 where you have "quoted" when you pressed the reply to my first post. May I suggest you go and re-read it then come back with a proper funny.

We will be waiting a long time. Perhaps Miss Moneypenny could drum up something vaguely entertaining, or Q.
