    Hello Fellow Viffers,

I'm toying with the idea of adding luggage to my 2014 Honda VFR800. However, after reviewing the pricing on Honda's website, I feel a bit discouraged. I knew this would be a semi-expensive project, but I didn't think adding a trunk and the two saddlebags would cost over $2000 considering that's almost a third of the cost of the machine itself when I purchased it. Does this sound right? I think I have all the right parts listed here. Where's the least expensive online shop to purchase these?

    Trunk Mount Base ITEM # 08L74-MJM-D10 ($299.95)
    Rear Carrier ITEM # 08L73-MJM-A10 ($369.95)
    Rear Trunk (White) ITEM # 08L71-MJM-A00ZB ($442.95)
    1 Key Inner Cylinder Set ITEM #08M70-MJE-D01 ($19.95) x 1
    Total Trunk: $1132.80

    Saddlebags (White) ITEM # 08L70-MJM-A10ZB ($974.95)
    1 Key Inner Cylinder Set ITEM #08M70-MJE-D01 ($19.95 x 2 = $39.90)
    Total Saddlebags: $1014.85

Givi, I'd suggest for a slightly happier bank manager..

Most folk import them from the uk far cheaper apparently. There is a thread on here about it.

Get the Honda bags! I purchased mine from Partzilla a few months ago. The total (1800 or so) was only a little more than it would have cost to import from the UK.
The luggage itself is worth every penny. The ease with which it attaches and detaches from the bike is superb. The fit and finish match the bike perfectly. I wish I would have bought them sooner.

Top case mount HOs61T (new), Cli-max riding gear $132
Shad SH39 Top Case Ebay (new) from miami $99
Shad SH36 side bag mount (used) Ebay $60
Shad SH36 inner bags (set of 2, new), Motardinn $66.83
Shad Sh36 Side Bags (set of 2, new), Ebay (uk-motors_de) $319.85

All prices include shipping. Total $677.68 probably about $750 if I had to buy new side rack.

I like that I can remove the whole thing as one unit, top rack and side rack and go back to stock undoing 4 under seat bolts and 2 foot rest nuts....about a 5 min job. I have gone on a 2000 mile trip and all work fine. BTW they are all keyed to one key. Hope this helps.

I have the OEM bags on my 1200. The quality is very impressive. I got them for around $800 from VFRD a long time ago. That being said, if I had it to do over again I would probably go the Givi/Kappa route.

With aftermarket luggage, you aren't tied to the one bike. Also, scratches on hard black plastic are nothing. Scratches on a color matched pannier drive you crazy!

Sent from my phone. Please forgive brevity and spelling.

I know they had to order mine from Honda, so it took an extra week or so.

I did see a set on ebay from revzilla new $815.00 just don't have the cash and almost bought them on my credit card after drinking. That is why I have to hide my wallet after work and online while drinking my beloved beer.

Try Ron Ayers for the saddlebags, you can probably get them for $800. Honda's price for the top case is ridiculous. I would definitely go aftermarket if you need a top case.

I just released the saddle bags on ebay! I had them in my cart. Any they sent me an email asking if I wanted them. Sorry Gents. They are out of my price right now and I hope someone gets them. As far as the the top case you are very correct. I thought I saw $415 for just the top bag! F..K That.

Really the top case is around $900 once you buy the rack, the mounting plate, the lock, and the case. It is very nice though. It’s hard to express how seamlessly the factory luggage works with the bike.

I wish I knew the ease and would love, and I mean really love to have it. But to justify almost $1800 dollars or almost a third of the cost of my bike makes that decision easy for me. I only dream that I will win the lotto and keep riding up to Wyoming in the hope of someday getting everything I want. Then the reality of loosing all of my family and friends because of the money, the babies I never knew about and the lawsuits the would happen because of :Boob2: only to die penniless and a pulpers funeral. :Rip:

Look at it this way: you could spend $1800 pretty easily on power commanders, exhausts, and other farkles that offer almost no real-world functionality on a VFR. OR you could spring for the luggage that makes the bike way more useful and convenient every time you ride it.
Every time I put my helmet in the lockable, secure top case and don’t have to carry it into the damn store or gym, I smile and wonder why I waited so long.

I went Givi. Got them when I bought the bike. One dealer would only do OEM and wouldn't even discount the price when bought with the bike. The other dealer was prepared to fit Givi and discounted both them and had a previous year plate bike. Way in front.

Zeta- I was hoping you could update us on how the Shad system has held up, how its felt over some long rides, now that you've run it for a while. Any insight you can share? I'm looking at replicating your setup, too. Weighing the convenience and easy on/off of the OEM bags, though smaller, against enhanced capability of the SHADs, but then I've got the heavy brackets lingering when I'm not hauling gear on the daily rides.
Looks like there is no really bad option here :)

They have been great. I have about 6000 mile son them and they are solid and waterproof. I also have the bag liners. They gen 8 is a little hard in the rear end with just me on (I really haven't twerked it) it but with the bags loaded she rides like a cadillac. I like the looks, but I'm bias, but for me they are well worth the money. I can get helmet in any case. I would buy them again, especially for 1/3 the cost of honda and if I change bikes all I have to do is buy mounting racks. Hope that helps.
