Front Rotors, Advice?

I have a new set of HH pads, and I don't need to replace the stock rotors yet, but just wondered if anyone had experence with Tarazon rotors.

 

go ahead and be our testpilot, but that looks like cheap Chinese crap. failure-critical part replacements should not be lower than OEM standards.

 

This I totally agree on. Crappy tyres, Crappy brakes, Crappy OIL / Filters = bike with issues

 

I am a fence sitter in the after market/OEM parts debate. But with brakes, I tend to think the best option is to use OEM. Unless you can find specs that prove what your are buying meets or exceeds factory specs. Brakes are probably the most critical part of remaining safe on your bike. I am not prepared to take that chance with aftermarket parts.

My rotors have many miles in them yet. The only reason that I'm asking for a testimonial is because someone in my area is selling a new set for an asking price almost half of Amazon. I have a new set of EBC HH pads that I'm about to install, and thought that if there were positive reviews of these rotors, I would give them a try.

Still waiting for a brave person to speak up if you have used this specific rotor. Positive or negitive.

 

I bought a set of these, and yes they are Chinese. Available on Fleabay in black or gold for less.
They are actually well made, but are 1mm thicker and weigh more.
I used them for a while to see if they were ok, but went back to my original ones.

 

1mm thicker, how difficult does that make it to install new pads? Can you share why you removed them? Was it mainly the weight?

 

Just the weight.
The carrier is a lot thicker than stock as well, which adds to the weight.
It was very tight with new pads on the original 5G calipers.
Not so much of a problem with my delinked set up.

 

I have a few sets of wheels (two bikes and spare front) only one has a non OEM set of rotors, that is the wheel on my 5 Gen and it has a set of EBC rotors (Thanks Lint). Although the performance of the EBC rotors paired with Carbon Lorraine pads has been flawless, I find nothing wrong with the OEM rotors and EBC HH pads. I found a set of used OEM rotors to put on my spare wheel. If you’re lucky and time it right you can probably pick up a set of OEM for $75-$100 per rotor off of eBay. Just read the description carefully, as some times the rotors are very worn or slightly warped.

There are places that can straighten wheels and rotors but that’s another $80-$100 to add to the cost, so keep that in mind if you find some you think are worth a shot.
