The OEM switch, what Honda calls SWITCH ASSY., STARTER STOP 35130-MB6-670, doesn't seem to be available from anyone (I checked a number of likely sources).

Anyone know if the same switch is used on another model? Not that I expect it to be available new; but it might widen the search for a used one.

Don't bother replacing with the same flawed unit. The start buttons will eventually fail. Look for a CBR600F2/F3 style. No real "rewiring" required, you may just have to swap locations of the connectors in the plug to match the bike. I've done it on a couple of mine as well as going with 900RR style individual throttle housing and start switch.

Disregard if you are going for a perfect restoration.

LOL, that happened on the bike I just bought. One of the POs installed a push button on the dash. Works fine.

I didn't realize that was a known issue- no wonder they seem to be rare on ebay.

Is there a write-up on the repinning?

You just need a small flat blade screwdriver, like for sunglasses, to release the pin from the connector. Then just put them where they match the wire harness side by color.

It seems like I may have the exact same problem with my 87. Any update on how this repair worked for you?

I haven't replaced the switch as what the PO (a helo mechanic) did still works fine, and will probably outlast the rest of the bike lol
