The VROD engine has an interesting history.

Harley originally wanted Buell to design the engine, which they started to. But H-D kept on "requiring" Buell to make concessions to design to fit the H-D image, spirit, & feel. Buell kept resisting stating doing it the H-D way would make the engine too bulky & heavy. H-D relented and pulled Buell off the design team and instead gave it to Porsche. Thus, the VROD engine was born, big, bulky, and heavy. But powerful. LOL! Because you know, what a brilliant idea! Have a carmaker design a motorcycle engine for a motorcycle manufacturer!

The Trump Admin's tariff didn't really help H-D. It's ironic that back in the 1980's H-D was the loudest voice in putting tariff's on Japanese bikes because it was hurting their sales. Hence the Honda VFR700 to circumvent the tariff that H-D wanted to stem the competition. Now it's H-D who is screaming bloody murder at the Tariff that Europe threw at them and is blaming this on their decision to start building bikes overseas. Well the real news is H-D is ALREADY building some bikes overseas and already had plans to shift production to Thailand, before the trade war even started.

Yeah I had heard some rumblings of that before the Trumpster hit the pulpit so I wasn't particularly shocked when the announcement they were relocating came out. Some of the articles I have read sound like their best potential market is outside the US anyway. I think it'd be a shame to lose the company completely, but I also do not see me paying their hiked up prices for a bike so I can't complain about it.

Actually I can complain and probably will, because well, F it. It's what I do.
