    Bump and (another) Price drop

Decided it’s time to part with what is arguably my favorite bike to date. I’m sure to regret it.

I purchased this bike in June of 2014 with 5,636 miles in 100% stock condition.

The guy I bought the bike from dropped it in his trailer and broke the left fairing and the lower fairing mount. The tank was scratched (not dented, see photo) at that time and the previous owner used touch-up paint and epoxy to fix it, but that wasn’t good enough for me. I purchase a new (OEM) fairing and removed the VFR stickers from it, and the right-side fairing. I installed tank (knee) pads to cover that blemish.

    Farkles include…

    • ZG stock size screen (new one too, still in bag)
    • Sargent seat (stock seat too)
    • Tank pads
    • Givi rack
    • Givi E360 panniers
    • Givi V46 top case
    • KN Air filter (6k)
    • Spiegler SS brake lines (6k)
    • Rick’s R/R, Stator, VFRness, battery and auxiliary fuse box (8k)
    • Powerlet in the steering head (8k)
    • Staintune low exhaust (10k)
    • Chain and sprockets (10k)
    • DMr fork cartridges and rear shock (16k)
    • Metzler Roadtec Z6’s (16k)
    • OEM front brake pads (16k)
    • Condom(less) mirrors (not in photos) (17k)

The motorcycle now has 17,863 miles. It’s never been the only bike in my garage and I have a daughter in elementary school, so I don’t get to ride it as much as I’d like.

    See photos and ask questions.

Test rides available to serious buyer with motorcycle endorsement on their license and arrive ON a motorcycle.

The VFR lives in my garage on the center stand plugged into a trickle charger when I’m not riding it.

    $3200

Looks like a nice 5th gen lad. I do miss mine, but after 11 years and over 135K, it was time to pass her along. Good luck with your sale.

I don’t want to give her away. I thought the new shocks and stuff were worth 50% of the original value. I know I would rather buy a bike with new shocks, brake lines etc than pay $2500 for one that did t have them

the farkles are tough because they typically don't make up any value for resale. I know iI had steel braided cables (which aint cheap on linked brakes), heli bars, suspemsion upgrade front rear, sargent seat, slip on, upgraded R&R, etc on my 98 and I got around $1500 (a lot more miles on mine, though)

Good looking bike. In less than the last year I sold my 98 VFR, 03 Tuono, and 07 Tuono. All private party cash deals.
None of them went for what I thought they should have when I put them on market.
If it doesn't move, your price is probably too high. Unpleasant fact.

There is also an element of limited market for the specific bike. If it was a Gixxer, it would be gone by now.
It needs the right buyer. So maybe it just needs more market time. GLWS. :Hippie:

    VFR4Lee,

It is an unpleasant fact. I usually think you can expect a 25-50% return on Farkles.

I think a decent low mileage (stock) VFR is worth $2500. With all new suspension (at 50%), Staintune (25%), Sargent (20%), SS Brakelines (10%) that works out to the $3200 price. I'd like to sell the bike, but I also don't want to give it away. I have the room in my garage, and I still ride it several times a month. I just realized that I prefer riding the R1200S more since I put Helibars on it. These VFRs are great, as we all know, but the HP/Torque of the BMW is a lot of fun. Since most of my rides are under 100 mile (early Saturday or Sunday morning while my wife and daughter sleep), I decided to sell.

I did a 400 mile day on the VFR a few weeks. Left at 7am, got home at 4pm. I could never do that on the R1200s. The seat is too hard, and the riding position is too unforgiving for my 55 yr old body.

Sad I just bought one. Yours is super nice! Did you notch out that Cowl to make it fit over the rack? I have a Givi rack too on mine and would love to run the Cowl. . . .

    MotoMax,

I did notch it. I wish I would have bought one of the cheap chinese ones and notched that instead of messing up the OEM one, but it's too late now.
