Hi all, I'm a newbie to the site and having been trawling around the internet looking for the Service manual for my newly purchased old girl (2002 VFR800 VTEC ABS) I thought I would share my findings.

I found the 2002 VFR800 VTEC service manual:
    http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/...vice-manual-6th-gen-2002-vtec-with-bookmarks/

And the Honda Common Service manual:
    http://www.carlsalter.com/download.asp?p=894

I hope they help anyone whom wishes to download them, they are in pdf format and be warned, they are pretty large.

I know the tradition is to upload some pic of your ride as a newbie but i haven't taken any as yet as I want to do some work on her first.

Any advice for a new owner? I had a VFR750 before this and a CB500 before that.

Welcome to The World! Congrats on your new purchase. For the most part these bikes are pretty reliable, with one exception, they have been known to have electrical issues. Most issues will arise with the failure of the R/R and/or stator but usually stem from poor wiring harness. If I'm not mistaken, some of the earlier. 6 Gens ('02-'05) and more specifically the 02 had a wiring harness recall. Although this would be for US models I think it might apply to UK models as well, you may want to check if yours had the recall done. I recall (no pun intended) that there is a website (Honda?) where you can put your VIN number in and it will tell you if any recall repair was done. You can maybe check with the PO or local dealer.

Apart from that, standard maintenance rules apply, oil/oil filter changes, air filter changes, etc. and she should keep running for years to come. There is a section for introduction post, maybe post your introduction there with some pics, don't worry if she's not clean, we all enjoy a dirty girl now and then!

    Cheers

Thank you both for the welcome. Dirty girl (nickname for her now I think lol) is now in pieces while she has her headers done. When finished I'll do a proper introduction and piccies.
I'll check the recalls but I'm sure I saw it in the paperwork when I bought her.
Came across the r/r problem on my vfr750 ... it cooked and melted the connector and all wiring down to the generator.

Thank you for the warm welcome gents, didn't get this from the other side so screw them.

Does anyone have a copy of the manual still? Bought mine and didn't come with even the owners manual. Would appreciate a new link or an email.

Do you mind sending me one too? I'm in the USA though. I've been looking for the past 2 hours and no success for my 2002 vfr800....

I probably could do that. After all, it is burned on plastic and not softwood that your Donny Dum is trying to block from entering into the United States of Trump. PM me with your details and I will see what I can do. May take a few days to get to it though due to work issues.
