Coming from a 2014 500R (commuter bike), I just picked up my first VFR with 8000 miles on the clock 04/10/18, I noticed something odd regarding the throttle. Cold start idle for a minute or less in neutral. If I bring the RPM's up to say 2000-2500 and hold the throttle, it will suddenly jump to 4000-5000 without any movement of throttle position, it doesn't run away, it'll hold at the 4000+. I let go, it drops back to idle immediately. It's a delayed response it'll stay at 2500 for a second or two then suddenly surge to 4000+. She doesn't show these symptoms while under load, just your normal herky-jerky if you don't slip the clutch while below 10-15mph. I have not tried it after warm-up. Anybody experience this? Thanks in advance.
Does it do this after it warms up, after a hot start. Cold start will advance the rpms on mine until some setpoint I guess, does yours do this if throttle is not touched? Hopefully more experience with the bike will help with the jerkyness at slow speed. Had same issue going from a cable clutch bike to the vfr hydraulic clutch seemed not as smooth, but learned just to be smoother on the lever.
I had a very similar problem that I think is corrected. It was an expensive trial by error fix though. Read all about it here. http://vfrworld.com/threads/sudden-high-revs-when-cold-starting-in-traffic.54261/
Sorry about the delay, forgot my password and got sidetracked with work. I seemed to have solved it by either the Pair Valve mod or Flapper mod, most likely it was Pair mod IMO. It only occurred while cold like before it registers a temp on the display cold.
