I have a problem, a well meaning mate was holding the battery of my VFR and placed it back in the bike the wrong way round touching the terminals incorrectly briefly. I have put it back in right but now the bike will not start. All lights etc come on but no fuel pump sound when ignition is turned on, just a click..... Is this easy to fix or has the ECU been screwed?

Ouch. Time to find a new friend. :wedgie: Easiest thing to do first...have you pulled and checked the fuses? Hopefully, a fuse took the hit and not what it was protecting...out you could have fried you fuel pump or fuel pump relay...or as you are suspecting, the ECU. Time to start checking fuses and grab a volt meter and start checking things.

I have checked all the fuses and they are fine so hoping it's just the relay

Is the Battery fresh or original? What is voltage while standing at rest, and voltage with key turned on?

Reversing polarity almost always blows the diode that controls the various ignition/starter lock-out circuits, so finding and replacing that would be a likely first step.

My money is on the battery.

2010 bike, possibly assembled in 2009--original battery could be 4 years old. A fully charged fresh battery will indicate 12.8 to 13.4 open circuit with no load. At 50% state of charge reads 12.4. When loaded the voltage will sag and may not have the guts left to source the high currents needed for the fuel pump motor and starter motor, etc.

I am with Kenny on this one....I have a similar problem on my GS
Check voltage show 13.5 but the bike will not start. I swap out the battery from my VFR and the bike fire right up. Turn out the battery is not enough OMH to turn over
German engineer go figure......I am glad I did not have to drop her off at the stealership for testing.
