I am able to purchase a 2014 VFR8000 Deluxe for $7999. I want to buy it but I have read that the suspension is harsh on bad roads ans we have quite a few bad ones here in Upstate NY. They say the harshnees cannot be tuned out. I'm particularly sensitive to square edged bumps that go right up the spine. Are there after market options I can pursue ?? Also are the optional bags and quick shifter still available ?? Thanks for any help.

Have your bike's suspension setup at a local suspension specialist, that should help you out. The OEM bags and quickshifter are available, I have both and highly recommend them :)

Same here. Roads are bad everywhere, I bent my front rim on a pot hole in sunny CA.

Living here in pothole, lousy roads of America, New Jersey. I changed suspension setting based on a posting here by someone. Dave Moss made the recommendations. Turned the bike from a spine rattling bike to much more comfortable. Also don't need the 36/42 air pressure unless fully loaded, maybe a passenger and just highway riding. That helps dropping to 34/38-40.

I'm with Alan, Dave Moss settings are spot on, the feedback is so good I can feel the suspension gone from my worn out BT23's

The suspension on the Deluxe is adjustable and you will find a good setting if you get an expert to look at it, meanwhile try the Dave Moss settings

BTW who are 'they' who say the VFR suspension is poor?

    Here is the "they" .
Cycle World 7/14: "Firm suspension rates help the bike maintain excellent stability during hard cornering, but they also deliver a taut ride that stops just short of harsh
. The 43mm conventional fork—designed to look like an inverted style—is less of a culprit than the preload-and-rebound-adjustable shock. With a passenger on board and optional quick-detach saddlebags clicked in place and fully loaded, that coarseness would be largely mitigated; but when riding solo, the rider will never be unaware of any sharp-edged bumps the Interceptor passes over."

Rider 6/14 : "If I had a gripe about the 2014 Interceptor DLX it would be with the suspension,
which can’t be softened-up enough in back for solo commuting in comfort. The comfortable seat helps, but even with the preload backed off all the way and the rebound damping set to light, the bike pounded me on some our bumpy freeways and backroads. It works quite well for sport riding of course, and complements the bike’s precise handling with terrific compliance and control, but some more range on the soft side would be appreciated. "

To be honest, the motorcycling media has their head up their arse most of the time. Anything they say I take with a grain of salt.

As with any adjustable suspension, adjust to your preference or riding style. No big deal :D

Get it and adjust it to tor weight and riding style. Don't always believe the hype spoilt journalists write.
