Wrong!!! that color is Japanese Red. A color used on a bunch of Ducatis.

This is a little known fact about Honda's Italian Red. The paint is heavy and makes the bike slower.

All reds fade with one rumored exception. An Italian red said to be used by Ferrari. Some parts of the Italian red bikes fade faster than others. ie the ABS parts vs the OEM tanks that are clearcoated most likely with a UV fraction.

I don't see "generic red" on any of the Honda paint codes. Might you have a code for that just in case someone wants to repaint an old Honda racebike. Never can tell who might have one of those 250cc sixbangers laying around fading in the sun after almost 56 years.

I'm afraid you'll have to deal with your weight and need for anger management problems on your own. I can dig up a few sites that might help with your sartorial dilemma or this may be out of print, the book "Dress for Success".

I recently test rode a 2016 'Busa (see vid) - it was very nice but I much prefer my VFR - good luck in your search for one.

This is the Colorrite site and the Honda paint codes for the US market and the list of Honda bikes. Look up the specific bike and year to determine the proper color or colors of paint on a given bike.

    http://www.colorrite.com/department/honda-10019.cfm?

See "all" for the Honda colors available. Not included are the red that Honda formulated for it's Italian racebikes..There's a shitload of other reds too that should indicate that Honda is better red than dead or other BS from the rattlecan rangers.

The Red on my 929 is sort of an "orangy red", like on the current red Ford vehicles. It a bit lighter, brighter red.

I had an 07 Honda 600RR, in Pearl ( I think) White. Sugarpuss said it was the prettiest bike I ever had. I really liked that bike. But NO leg room. I dont mind low bars. But i cant put up with hi pegs.

A couple of smidgens of pearl in any red paint is a great start for making pink. As an undercoat, pearl is the base for "Candy Apple" red. The red overcoat is translucent or is technically, a glaze.

Some blues have a red fraction as in Thalo Blue. Adding blue to red creates a "shade" of blue sometimes in decorative paint parlance known as "dirtying" a color. Much the same effect can be done with the use of the "earth" colors or by the addition of decomposed pumice, aka rottenstone.

Honda-san chose red as his official color first on a farm implement, a tiller. IMO, Italian Red was the furthest thing from his mind in those days. Kind of like the Wright Brothers who were fixing bicycles and not giving much thought to birds like the SR71.

Great photo duccmann. I got to shake his hand at an AMA race 10 or 15 years ago. Generous and easy going about it -- you KNOW he's probably constantly being bothered by fans in that environment.

I didn't know shit about racing, or bikes, back when he was racing. I was around them a lot, and damned near all my friends growing up rode in the dirt. A friend's older brothers were into making cafe bikes from 70s street bikes, and loved racing. We'd occasionally get to see races on TV so they introduced me to it. As I was just becoming aware of the new style of motorcycles, he was the king.

I remembered that when I took my MSF class 8 or10 years later. If I hadn't enjoyed watching the racing so much I probably would have ended up a harley fag. That stuff sticks with you.

VFR is more comfortable IMO - my wrists started to hurt a little bit towards the end of my test ride on the 'Busa which couldn't have been more than twenty minutes, whereas I've been on a 4 hour ride on my VFR with about a 15 minute break halfway in and felt good the whole time.
