A 250' widow making alder fell and landed about 4' from the garage, it shook the whole house and diffently gave us a WTF moment about a hour before dinner. I've been through countless California earthquakes, but nothing has compared to this tree and the sound it makes when it hits damn near on top of the garage...

She's all cut up now, now it's time for the ax part, firewood in about a year and a half. The bad thing about living surrounded by 250' trees is the fear of one day a tree will land on your house...

Wow, glad you are OK, R.W. I guess that is one more thing to be thankful for before heading back to work tomorrow!

wow... did the tree even look like it would fall soon or was it healthy? I'm glad we dont have any trees that huge near our house. I have actually been trimming the ones we do have a little. I borrowed a friends chainsaw and went to town. what a mess!

There is just too many trees to personally inspect, the tree that fell was probable 100' from my house and about 6 rows deep. Up here in Washington it's just a whole new world, the tree that fell was a Alder, very tall and skinny, but most of the trees around my house are big and thick pines.

It's great to not see any neighbors and very private, but the tree coming down is one of the few negatives about living on 5 acres...

The tree fell on thanksgiving, and the next morning I was at it bright and early because I knew it would be an all day job, so there was no pictures.
