3 wires from the STATOR to the RECTIFIER - DOES IT MATTER how you connect them?

Feeling kinda dumb. I see the three wires, I think its three phases, and the rectifier should be able to manage it, but I wanted to make ABSOLUTELY SURE that it didn't matter which lines from the rectifier went to which lines from the stator.

I got the VFRNess but got the COMPUFIRE Rectifier. I got good wiring on the power and ground but the 3 wire is making me second guess myself.

    Thanks.

No, the 3 yellow wires from the stator don't matter which is which, just hook them up.

Dude - check my install on the Compufire. --- Your best wire- up is to go direct to the battery. By doing this you can pass up the VFRness completely. I did use a few parts of a VFRness I had be using for about 3 years, but if I didnt already have one, I wouldnt pay the extra bucks to grab one with a new CF R/R install.

Compufire R/R install wrap - up on a 5th gen (finally) - Electrical - VFR Discussion

    - Oh yeah to your first question - the 3 yellow stator wires can go in any order with the 3 stator wires to the R/R.

I did mine similar to yours.I agree on Vfrness.Direct to battery is best.

The three wires are interchangable, so it doesn't matter which connects where.

I used the VFRness, which caused lots of confusion for myself after I told myself I was going to tape it all off BEFORE I tore things apart and started hooking it back together. :/ pics shortly.

I cut off the Stator plug, spliced wiring to extend it, heat shrinked it two times, and ran it through the weatherproof connector to the rectifier connector. ( I had to order the connector from the stator, the rectifier came with that connector.)

VFRness fused wire to the battery + terminal, taped off the connector to stock. Also taped off stock connector. Cut off the 3 feet of wire to ground and power from the rectifier, and connected them to the VFRness. gonna run with it loose like this for awhile, if it lasts a week or so I'll go back in and clean it up and protect it better.

rode her hard in the hill country yesterday with the wife on her new ninja. 200 miles in 106 degree heat index... once I get back out to that 2 door oven I call a garage I'll probably start cleaning things up and call it happy and done if there are no ugly spots. :)

    DAMMIT

I'm blowing the charging circuit 20amp fuse. It seems to blow at idle. I can turn the bitch over, she'll run, but sitting in traffic, something blows it... I'm thinkin either my rectifier (brand new) isnt cleaning up the AC good enough or I'm getting dirty voltage...

sticking her on the trickler until the weekend to get that battery back up to snuff so I can do some electrical troubleshooting. :kaboom:

^^^^Ditch the VFRness and wire that thing direct to the battery. The stock harness is undersized and a known problem and the VFRness is just a bandaid. Why go there? Also the connector that come with the CF is only rated 20 amps. IMHO ditch that too go to a larger connnector. Go for overkill. The reliability of it is only as good as your install. -- Again suggest to check my link. I have had zero issues with mine.

Thanks Mello... so skipping the 20amp fuse to the Battery isn't gonna hurt it?

/nevermind... saw something in your post so I can see its fused somehow.

maybe it's phased wrong and your motor is running backward.

just swap any two yellow wires to change the phase

    MOTHERPUSSBUCKET....

soooooooooooooo looking at our wiring diagram, I see why going from the R/R directly to the battery with a fuse inline is really a bad idea if you want to have a motorcycle that keeps RUNNING after that charging circuit blows....

I need to rewire my shit... cuz that is the LAST TIME I go from 80mph to the side of the road on a bike as sexy as ours.

yep. going to switch to a 30 amp, but will probably connect that wire on the OTHER side of the existing 30amp fuse so that my bike doesn't die in the middle of the highway from lack of ELECTRonIC fuel injection... :/
