    Hey guys,

I was having issues starting my ‘97. Typical starter clutch issues. I rebuilt the starter clutch and now the bike won’t start.

The starter now engages 100% if the time, so at least that is fixed. I just can’t seem to figure out why my bike won’t start. Plugs are not wet. It alsmot seems like a timing issue, but the starter clutch is keyed so that you can’t mess up the timing.

I checked the resistance across my electronic pickups that pickup the starter clutch tabs. They both were consistent at around 30 +/- ohms.

    Any ideas?

Bike ran fine prior to my starter clutch rebuild.

    Thanks!

Problem solved. Cover was 120 degrees out of phase which caused the timing to be 120 degrees off. Fixed. Runs great again!

Good job figuring that out! Glad you shared the fix with us. I prefer to learn from someone else's trial and error. I'll try to keep this in mind in case I need to rebuild my starter clutch in the future.
