The main reason why I didn't get the k1300s was because of the driveshaft/starter recalls but I guess Honda is on the same boat :(

I've not had any issues, but I'll take a new drive shaft. I'm about due to change the final drive oil anyway.

So would it be better to wait until a drive shaft oil change before bringing it in for the recall? Or would it be better rack up as much miles as possible knowing you get a new final drive for free?

That's a tough call. You really need to see the official recall from Honda. Not the notification letter, the official recall bulletin. That will have parts, consumables such as oil and or special procedures required to perform the recall listed. Keep in mind Honda ultimately pays the dealer for performing any warranty work. If final drive fluid isn't listed on the official bulletin, then Honda does not have to cover the cost of the oil. The dealer may absorb the cost as "goodwill" but isn't obligated to do so.

Best thing to do is go to Honda's website & punch in your VIN to see if your bike is on the recall list. Badbilly put a link in post #4. If you don't find what your looking for there, check with your local dealer. At this point they should've received notice of the impending recall. And should be able to tell you if replacing final drive oil is included.

How many more miles are you going to accumulate in Jan living in RI?

HEY thanks for the post - I just purchased my 2010 VFR1200 a couple months ago and just looked on the recall website - mine has not been done. Going to assume the previous owner got that letter of recall. I actually have a track day next weekend with my wife's MZ Baghira 660 and I planned on a couple medium-hot laps with the VFR. hat to have broken something.. And talk about opposite ends of the spectrum, the MZ feels like it weight 65lbs in corners compared to the VFR.

I have my 2010 at Pete's Cycles now for the recall work. Getting a front tire and oil change while its there. I had no problems previously but took it in as soon as I got the recall notice. No sense worrying about it.

Had mine done recently and the results are quite noticeable - the slop is gone when on/off throttle. My CV/ujoint must have been relatively worn ouand this being my 1st shaft driven bike I wasn't sure if it was normal.

If anyone knows a good Honda dealer in South Florida that can do this recall, please let me know. I called the two that are closest and I got a "drop it off and we will look at it" from one and a "haven't heard of that recall" from the other. Not confidence inspiring.

    Thanks.
