Do the Canadian / European delivered '98-'01 vfr800s have clear plastic beneath the brake / tail light to allow the tail light to light the license plate? I want to mount the Scott oiler beneath the plate and get rid of the US plate light / use the tail light, but the US tail light has the lower "window" blocked off.

Any sources for an alternate tail light w/ clear plastic to light a license plate?

    Thanks!

No, the Cdn bikes do not have the clear lens on the bottom of the taillight.

Why not remove the plate light from the bracket and install it where the red reflector currently resides, just under the taillight?

I did this and it works great.

Others have cut the taillight open and used a CD case as a donor for the clear plastic. Or a dome light cover. Cut, fit and glue as req'd.
