After my overfill of .3 quarts and riding 200 miles before detecting it. I did drain and set it at the correct level. Some said that this would not be an issue due to having the excess run out and be messy from the overfill drain. That really never happened. Or at least not while standing still in the garage. I did not see any leakage or smells before or afterwards.

I did not think anything of it and hoped I missed a bullet with the oil. But yesterday and today I did get a smell of almost "burnt rubber" coming into the garage. It really only started after I did a chain lube.

It started raining, but afterward went back out for a great ride and temp of 81 degrees. I went to the job to check on things and put it on its center stand and noticed that that the center stand and this area was coated with an oil like substance. I cleaned it up and will watch it, but In my mind it is excessive chain lube or a broken seal on the drive shaft. The smell is not of burnt oil but of almost a burnout rubber smell. I think and hope that it is the chain lube. Any thoughts? InkedIMG_0314[2286]_LI.jpg

It'll be chain lube most likely.

Apply chain lube to a warm chain to help prevent fling.

My guess is chain lube dripping and burning on the exhaust.

I wouldn't worry about this at all. Unless the oil was foamy when u drained it, then I would replace the oil again. Very hard to harm the engine with a little bit of an overfill. You will get puking out of the breather way before you started to foam due to piston slap et all.
Sounds like a messy lube job my friend!

Burning rubber smells can also happen if the fuel overflow pipe touches the rear headers.

Goop around the shift pedal/sidestand = chain lube.
