HI Guys, I'm approaching about a month with my VFR.
    It's been great.
I have 18,000 kms or 11,250 miles on the bike.
Manual states to replace air filter at I believe 19, 250 kms.
My question is how easy is it to replace.
-Un bolt to main bolts at front of tank with washers
    -Lift tank
-Is their a prop rod in toolkit I haven't even looked
-Do I have to remove vent hose?
-Then the 7 screws holding down airbox cover

    Am I missing anything?
    Thxs Guys

One more thing , the guy I bought the bike from had changed the oil before i bought it.
It looks a little overfilled. Should I be concerned.
To tell you the truth I feel like changing the oil because of that.
and get it to proper level between both marks.
    Thanks again guys.

As far as the air box removal, that's the procedure, nothing too difficult. In regards to the oil, the PO that owned the 01 I have did the same thing, put way too much oil in. On my ride back home, the bike was getting hard to shift so I thought I'd change oil to see if that was the cause, as it seemed fine on my short test ride, just not on the longer ride home.

Since I didn't know what other items he may have done improperly or neglected, I did a couple fluid flush/fill, oil, coolant, clutch/brake fluid, my peace of mind was much better for it. After the oil change the bike ran and shifted much smoother. Since you didn't pay for the oil, might as well do it now and have a proper level set.

    You're over thinking it.

Doing the air filter is literally one of the easiest things I've done on this bike. Just remove the seat, remove the two bolts holding the tank, pivot the tank up, you may have to remove the bolt that holds the cord so you can prop the tank up further (easy to do) then you can remove the screws holding the air box and and wa-la you have access to the air filter. You may need to disconnect the flapper to get it off, or leave the airbox dangling by the flapper. I'd disconnect it though, and while you're at it leave it disconnected. Also chuck out the snorkel and do the PAIR mod, mine as well while you are down there.
