Any ideas: why did Honda discontinue the VFR800?

I just had to look up butterbeer. I have gone into diabetic shock just reading that. Sure does look tasty though.

Back on topic. So. Honda is still producing new 8th gens, like 2017 and 2018 models for Europe and maybe Australia but just not here in North America. Is that correct? I have looked just briefly for new 8th gens here in Canada and they are not really that easy to find. At least not locally on our west coast.

I recently received a decent lump sum retro pay cheque and immediately thought about going out and buying myself a new bike. But I managed to tie up those funds for other purposes that involve the wife. But a new bike could still be in my not too distant future. I could import a new one from the USA without too much problem here in Canada. But to import from Europe or down under would be very expensive and I suspect a lot more difficult.

Canada seems to have more regulatory requirements on vehicles than most places. We have had mandatory daytime driving lights since I think 1989, and the additional brake light around the same time.

I find it hard to understand why mandatory daytime driving lights required everywhere on new vehicles. Canada did fall short on those though. At the same time as mandatory driving lights, they should have made mandatory tail lights too. Following a light coloured car especially grey, on the freeway in a heavy rain, (that is October to June on the Wet Coast of Canada) is shocking at times.

It's good stuff - just don't get the frozen butter beer unless you like brain freeze - LOL. It's also ridiculously overpriced but the Harry Potter nerds still go crazy for it - I bet they could charge $100 per cup and they would still buy it :D As for your 8 gen VFR question, yes you are correct. Since it's no longer on Honda's Canada site I'm guessing there are very few leftovers there as you indicated. I just checked cycletrader and there are still about a dozen new VFRs for sale in Florida alone which I guess explains why Honda still has it on their USA website.

Well Fuk! You never know. I may have to fly down there to buy one. A hell of a ride back! Maybe I could ride down there, ship the old bitch back and ride the new one up the east coast then across Canada from the Maritimes to the west coast.

Um, are you referring to your wife or your current VFR? :D J/K, but if you do come through Orlando I'll be happy to buy you a beer - maybe a real one at the Canada pavilion at EPCOT. The dealer in Fort Myers, FL has 4 new 8th gens listed at semi-reasonable prices including a white '15 deluxe for $9,999, not sure what their fees are though, link:

Oh shit. On re-read, that did not come out really that well now did it? Good thing she does not read this forum.

About the bikes, That, at today s exchange rate, is $13011.00 CDN, Plus the new gear. After all, it is not right to ride a brand new bike with old worn leathers boots, gloves and lid.

I went to the Beer Garden in Toronto a long time ago and tried as many Bavarian beers as possible in their sample sizes. Some of them had crazy high alcohol content. One was a light colored (looked like a Bud lite) and was very high in contest and tasted wonderful.

By any chance, do you remember any names, maybe? :D

My favourite beer of "all time", or at least currently is definitely the Eichhofener Helles
    [IMG]

But if that isn't available due to it being produced by a regional brewery in Eichhofen near Regensburg, I'll also gladly take an Augustiner Helles
    [IMG]

If it were up to me, my fridge would be stocked with just Eichhofener-stuff :D

Just a word of caution regarding beer, a few times I've picked up a stunning woman after a few beers, only to find in the morning they substituted their ugly mate at some point.

Not an issue here in Germany: Most women are ugly anyway.

But as long as the beer keeps coming in, I see no problem (literally)

Do you see a pattern here? The uglier the women, the better the beer... Well, no, that would not be true for Great Britain.
