I have an issue with my brakes when riding at low speed, in traffic, on hot days. When it is over 90 degrees (F), my brakes will sometimes vibrate/pulse at low speeds. This has happened about 5-6 times, and it goes away once I start moving beyond 10-20 mph and no longer sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic. My brakes have never vibrated at any other time, so it is not warped discs. I had my brake fluid replaced about 6 months ago, and thought that cured it, but it happened again last week. I have a non-ABS 2002 VFR800. Any advice? I'm doing a track day for the first time next week, and the last thing I want to deal with is brake issues!

Typically the issue is that the pistons are not moving evenly and therefore causes the brake pad to press the rotor unevenly making the pads vibrate. Clean the pistons, bleed the lines and see if that helps. Also check the pads for uneven wear and replace them if they are before you hit the track. Also consider using locktite on the bolts and/or safety wire them. You'll probably have to safety wire the oil drain plug but sometimes they allow you to use silicon. definitely safety wire the oil filter. Check out Youtube for videos on track day bike prep.

There is a thread on here about cleaning the little disks that are used for floating the disk. They get dirty and don't move freely which is a common cause of brake vibrations, Easy and quick, someone on here will point you in the right direction. Randy???
